If it’s your first time here, visiting the Valle dei Templi is an absolute must. The largest and most famous archeological site on the island, and in the world, it dates back to Grecian times. In October the Valle dei Templi is full of fall colors: take a stroll amidst the ten temples dedicated to the gods of Magna Grecia and take a plunge into history amidst its shrines, necropolises and fortresses.

You certainly can’t miss the rice fields here. Monks introduced the practice of cultivating rice centuries ago, and today the fields extend from Monferrato to the plains of Vercelli, creating a geometric landscape that is quite picturesque.

Visit the surroundings of Vercelli by car, stopping to see the town of Trino, a famous archeological site, and Rovasenda, with its imposing castle from the 11th century.

If your destination for the month of October is the province of Gorizia then you’ve come to the right place. 

To enjoy the crisp October air head to Lake Doberdò - one of Europe’s few karst lakes - where you can admire the many colors of the season. A curious bit of info: water reaches the lake from underground rivers and flows back out through underground chambers called ponors.

Weather permitting, you can visit the capital city of Turin by bike. Take a ride around the city and follow the bike paths to the Royal Residences. There are also many organized tours that guide you around places of great historical and architectural interest such as Castello del Valentino, Villa della Regina, Giardini Reali and the very famous Mole Antoneliana.
