Il Pino Grande

Located about 600 meters from Provincial Route 234, the lodge, with its rock walls that are over 1 meter thick and with its rear garden, lends itself to reading and moments of peace and tranquility.
In the same spirit, on foot or by (rented) mountain-bike, guests can wander along the paths that lead away from the manor farm for interesting walks to discover flowers, plants and native wild greens or to admire the surrounding countryside with its varied panoramas due to the undulating terrain and its native fauna.

In the immediate vicinity guests can make arrangements for horseback riding or reserve flights on ultra-light aircraft. The lodge is conveniently located within a maximum one hour car ride from interesting artistic, archeological, historical, cultural and natural sights. Besides the nearby Castel del Monte (defined as “the secular sanctuary”), and the other castles of Barletta and Trani, there are the beautiful marine areas of Barletta, Trani e Bisceglie, Pre-Roman, Roman and Medieval ruins at Canne della Battaglia, Canosa and Ruvo di Puglia, as well as the spas at Margherita di Savoia, also known for its salterns which are the largest in Europe and where, for some time, there has been a Natural Reserve for numerous species of birds.

Other places to visit are: Andria, Corato, Terlizzi with its ancient monuments and palaces, Minervino Murge, Altamura, Gravina and, outside of the region, in Lucania, 70 Km., Matera (with its famous Sassi) which is characterized by historical-naturalistic and environmental excursions. Gravina and Matera are also known for their rock dwellings.

The cities of Barletta, Trani, Ruvo, Bitonto and Molfetta, all in nearby Bari, located 55 km from the lodge, constitute the most important Romanesque monument complex in Puglia. Other destinations are, to the north, Mattinata, Monte Sant'Angelo and San Giovanni Rotondo and, in the other direction, within nearby Lucania, Venosa, Melfi and the lakes of Monticchio.
