The building dates back to 1709 as it is registered in the Catasto Onciario of Salice Salentino of that age. The plan retains the typical plant with inners but the building is unique for the big octagonal hall which offers an unusual eight ribs vault and an original and stately fireplace, today made into a restaurant dining hall.
A suggestive chapel dating back too to the beginning of 1700 originally used by all the workers around there in order to celebrate is another singular feature. Today the building called Casale S. Giovanni-holiday farmhouse- Residence negli Ulivi has 17 flats with private bathrooms with all modern conveniences, with a reception room and two little rooms with typical stellar vaults which preserve their ancient beauty.
