The agriturismo
Masseria Chicco Rizzo is one of the most ancient farmhouses of the Salento region. It is located in Grecia Salentina, between Lecce and Otranto, and has survived over the centuries keeping untouched the appeal of the rural world. In the Eighteenth century it was used as a staging post for the horses and now it welcomes all those who are fond of nature, organic farming, cultural and sustainable tourism.
The accommodation
Masseria Chicco Rizzo is a hamlet that develops on four sides round a large common green space. It is located in the typical countryside of the Salento region surrounded by 14 hectares with olive groves, from which an excellent organic olive oil is extracted.
The rooms reflect the typical rural architecture and offer the best of comfort to the guests. The farm holiday establishment has single, double and triple finely appointed rooms, all equipped with en-suite bathrooms, hotel amenities, minibar, LCD television, safety deposit box, air conditioning.
The other rooms of the farmhouse (the living-room with couches and TV, the restaurant, the bar and the meeting room with the library) are the typical expression of the Salentine building skill, finely and functionally equipped.
Internet is free of charge, both wi-fi and on the computers available for the guests. Mineral water is free. Masseria Chicco Rizzo has a long trekking path combining the typical rural landscape with the tour of greenhouse grown aloe, a plant whose benefits are well known and well documented. A rich library is at guests’ disposal to relax and read in the shade of an olive tree. The restaurant offers traditional recipes with typical local products.
In the farmhouse concerts, exhibitions and tasting of local products are regularly organized. The Salentine and griko territory can be discovered thanks to a qualified tourist service.
Activities and surrounding
Masseria Chicco Rizzo is located in the Grecìa Salentina, the linguistic island of the Salento region standing between Lecce and Otranto, where griko, a language of Byzantine origin, is still spoken. The farmhouse is located in the magnificent Mediterranean countryside that separates two of the most interesting griko villages, that’s to say Martignano and Sternatia, both reachable on foot with our trekking paths.
These two villages which are very lively from the cultural point of view show to their guests the imagine of the original South able to welcome people rather than tourists with its monuments, traditions and high quality services.
All the guests of the farmhouse can enjoy a free visit of Parco Turistico Culturale Palmieri, located in the historical Palazzo Palmieri, where the free services of Tourist Front Office and Multimedia Library combine with the visit of interesting historical sites (chapels covered with frescoes, underground oil mills, “pozzelle” wells) and the offer of an extraordinary events.
Masseria Chicco Rizzo is the ideal destination also for those who want to enjoy the sea. Every day the most enchanting seaside resorts of Salentine Adriatic coast can be easily accessed: Torre Dell'Orso, San Foca, Roca Li Posti, Laghi Alimini and Otranto. Just a few kilometers further and there is the Ionic coast with Porto Cesareo, Porto Selvaggio and Gallipoli. And Lecce, the main city of the Salento region with its magnificent Baroque style is only 15 km away.

We stayed here for 4 days, enjoying the beautifully remodeled Masseria. What a magnificent building. Beautiful pool and lovely calm relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the cuisine. Fresh produce, a little too much for us.
