The agriturismo

Just 5 km from the Ionian sea and the beaches of Torre Ovo, Campomarino Lido, Trullo di Mare, Lido Conche and San Pietro, this typical XVI century fortified farmhouse, once a defensive structure which protected against pirate raids, is surrounded by greenery and offers typical local cuisine, prepared using fresh zero mile produce and Apulian specialties.

The accommodation

The main body, featuring a tower with a trap door, thick walls and a star vaulted ceiling, comprises of 4 rooms and a mini apartment (with two bedrooms and a small lounge), each with their own bathroom and independent entrance.

The property also offers a further 4 rooms, again with their own entrances and bathrooms. The exposed tuff walls, with shell fossils encased in the stone of the oldest buildings, create a unique, beautiful setting.

All rooms include air conditioning, TVs and free WiFi access. The entrance, with its 5 point star vaulted ceiling, has been adapted to create a reading and entertainment room; the restaurant, with its barrel vaulted ceiling, features chandeliers and lamps crafted from terracotta by the master potters of Grottaglie. The restaurant’s specialties include cavatelli pasta with ragù, durum wheat orecchiette pasta with Manduria tomatoes and basil, broad bean puree with boiled vegetables, maccheroncini pasta with fried artichokes, stuffed aubergines and peppers, spaghetti or cavatelli pasta with mussels, meat stews with bay leaves and wild fennel, cooked in the wood burning oven.

Activities and surrounding

The farm’s surroundings are ideal for jogging or exploring on foot, on horseback or by bike (bicycles are provided free of charge). Guests can also get involved in farming activities (harvesting and stripping the grapes, etc.) or visit the beaches of Torre Ovo and Marina di Torricella.

Maruggio, Manduria, Oria  and Federico II’s castle, Taranto and Brindisi are all worth a visit too. Lecce with its Baroque architecture is around 50 km away.
