I Boschi di Fornio is a small country refuge, a very small family-run organic farm. Elisabetta and her husband Stefano take care of everything, from the care of the fields and animals, to your welcome; from cooking and processing of products, to cleaning and managing all the paperwork.
It is a B & B with three cozy rooms, to give you the opportunity to unplug a few days and immerse yourself in the silence and peace of this place.
Una Merenderia offers a small space with a warm, intimate and familiar atmosphere where you can taste their products and those of other small producers who, like them, pay the utmost attention to quality and sustainability of work.
Elisabetta and Stefano offer a true experience of rural hospitality and by choice have decided to give up some services. They have created their own little world that they will be happy to share with those who are looking for asimple and genuine atmosphereand want to try pressing the "PAUSE" button for a few hours or a few days.
On the first floor of the house there are 3 doublerooms with private bathroom and free Wi-Fi. In the morning you can enjoy a rich breakfastwith cakes and biscuits, fresh milk and yogurt, bread and homemade jams. In the common room you will find a fridge and a microwave for your needs.
The old barn houses the Merenderia di Campagna, a small, intimate and cozy space where they serve tastings and organize classes and events from time to time.
It is not a restaurant; they offer a tasting of their products and those of other small producers. Normally they are open on SATURDAY EVENING and SUNDAY LUNCH, but there may be variations depending on the seasons and the other work they have to do on the farm.
They are organizing themselves so that their Merenderia can also become a place of meeting and culture, where they can consult books, talk about food and organize courses on country cooking.
Around the house live the animals, horses and goats, chickens, dogs and cats.
In the 10 hectares of land they grow small plots of cereals ( including soft wheat and spelt) and hay for the animals. They also have a small vegetable garden, berries, vines and a few fruit trees. They produce small quantities that are almost entirely destined for the Merenderia and their livelihood.
The farmhouse is located in the foothills of Fidenza , in a hamlet a few kilometres from the town and all amenities. The landscape is typically rural, with cultivated fields, meadows, woods and cottages. There is the old school and just above it the small church; the best thing is that here all the roads end and so there is very little traffic and you can walk in peace among the small roads and cart tracks that run along the Regional Park of Stirone and Piacenziano.There are no roads (only the dirt road that goes up among the trees and connects us to the main road further down), but only meadows, woods and cultivated fields.
Not far away on the hills are the wonderful medieval villages of Scipione Castello, Vigoleno(which can also be reached on foot for a nice day trip) and Castell'Arquato.
Moving a few kilometers towards the Po, however, we find the villages of Fontanellato, with its beautiful Rocca, Soragna and Roccabianca. And again Busseto and the places of Verdi and the Mondo Piccolo of Giovannino Guareschi.
The area is particularly rich in food and wine excellences : from the most famous ones, such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Colli Piacentini wines and Culatello di Zibello, to the less known ones, such as Vin Santo di Vigoleno, black pork, ancient grains and much more.
And for those who want to go shopping, just a few kilometres away is the large Fidenza Village outlet.
Of course there is much more to see and discover... Elisabetta and Stefano will be happy to give you all the information and their suggestions to spend pleasant days.
