The agriturismo
The agriturismo and wine farm is located at the heart of the Trieste Karst Plateau, the perfect place to relax, enjoy strolls through the hills, take a trip toTrieste or spend days by the sea.
The vines, grown on small plots of red earth, are cultivated with huge care. The healthy, mature grapes, processed using traditional methods and aged for two years, produce wholesome wines which respect the land, the perfect accompaniment to the farm’s own cured meats.
The accommodation
The agriturismo is made up of one double room with bathroom and two apartments with bedroom, lounge-kitchen (with hob, fridge, pans and crockery), and bathroom. All accommodation comes with its own entrance, independent heating, rustic wooden furnishing, satellite TV and outdoor space with tables and chairs.
All guests also have access to the garden with children's play area and the private car park.
Activities and surrounding
The agriturismo is around 2 km from the Carsiana Botanical Gardens, where you can find out about the local environment and the region's flora. The Karst Plateau is characterised by its calcareous rock, sinkholes and the water which winds underground, forming a significant number of caves, the biggest of which is known as the Grotta Gigante, and is large enough to hold St Peter’s Basilica.
There are also many woodland trails with stunning views overlooking the Gulf of Trieste, such as the Strada Napoleonica which links the towns of Prosecco and Opicina, or the Rilke Trail, with its steep cliffs to the sea that connects Sistiana to Duino, through to Duino Castle.
In Trieste you can admire the Piazza Unità d'Italia, the town’s main square which faces out to sea, visit the San Giusto Castle and Cathedral, explore the town centre with its various architectonic styles, such as the remains of the Roman city of Tergeste, and enjoy the huge range of food and wines on offer.
Lovers of the sea can choose between the Barcola Riviera, near to Miramare Castle, the settlements and marinas along the Strada Costiera coast road or the beach in Sistiana Bay.
