I Comelli

The Comelli Family boasts a very long tradition in the cultivation of vines and for several years now has been running an Agriturismo that serves typical dishes from old traditions. The old family house, that has been perfectly renovated maintaining the classic Friuli style  has a characteristic “fogolar” (fireplace) in the middle of the room that provides an ideal place for peace and calm. Alessandro Comelli warmly welcomes guests. Livia, who is a very capable cook, prepares simple but tasty typical dishes of this region: barley and beans soup, potato or bread gnocchi, frico, goulash, rabbit, pork, guinea fowl, donkey stew, musetto and brovada and irresistible home made cakes. The family farm’s vegetable garden and orchard supply the kitchen with fresh fruit and vegetables. Also found on the family farm are European bison, goats, ducks, donkeys and splendid horses.

The three sons Paolo, Francesco and Enrico are experts in viticulture and wine-making and dedicate themselves completely in the production of their famous wines with particular attention to the local varietals Ramandolo, the first D.O.C.G. of Friuli, Picolit, Cjavalgjan and Tocai Friulano.

The Agriturismo has two cosy dining rooms with wood ceilings and Florentine terracotta floors and a cool veranda for eating outside, for snacks and for guided wine tastings paired with typical products. The five large comfortable bedrooms have numerous beds and typical furniture. They all have private bathrooms, Wi-Fi Internet and cable TV.
