Sulla Via del Sale
Brallo di Pregola (Pavia)
- Traveller rating:
The farm, sited at 1250 m.s.1.m. on the slopes of Monte Lesima (1720 m), between Val Trebbia and Valle Staffora, at the border between Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, Piemonte and Liguria, gives the chance to rediscover rhythms, scents and flavours that got lost within the city life.
The farmhouse, thanks to its position, is the ideal starting point for walking tours, bike tours and rides to discover charming landscapes; it is also just half an hour from the Trebbia, one of the most limpid and cleanest Italian rivers.
Swimming pool and tennis court are 500 m. far.
The farmhouse is accredited by the region of Lombardia as a Didactic Farm and it has been engaged in the organisation of didactic tours for years for elementary schools, primary schools, high schools as well as for summer grests. Children, along with rediscovering the taste for team games, test themselves against different rural activities: they look after pets (hens, geese, rabbits and horses), learn to make bread starting from the wheat milling, make cheese and ricotta out of the cow that's just been milked; they have a sort of first approach with the horse, they draw the bow, they are taught to read topographic maps and compass thanks to orienteering competitions and they also take didactic walks aimed at environmental education.
Easily reachable destinations are Varzi, with its ancient historical streets, it is also known for its typical salami (nowadays even Dop quality trademarked) and Bobbio, a village that is very interesting from the historical and architectonic point of view, introduced into the Roman road system in ancient times, nodal centre that used to be run through by the monks of San Colombano monastery during their trips seaward, namely to Rome.
