The agriturismo
The farm is family-run: they raise shetland ponies and produce honey, small fruits, jams and organic vegetables. It is located in the Ticino River Natural Park, surrounded by pine, oak and chestnut forests: an ideal place to spend pleasant moments of vacation in tranquility, in close contact with nature and horses.
In every season you can appreciate what the forest has to offer: the spring awakening, the summer coolness, the mushroom and chestnut picking in autumn with its many colors.
The accommodation
The farmhouse is an English style building, built 50 years ago to lodge both horses and riders: downstairs there are boxes for horses, saddle rooms, dressing rooms; at the first floor the lodgings have been recently renewed andbecame very welcoming and comfortable.
At your disposal you can find 5 independent little flats, tastefully furnished, with a completely furnished kitchenette, 2 en-suite rooms and a clubhouse with fireplace and television at disposal of the guests. If you wish, you can have your meal here on weekends enjoying the typical local home cooking.
Activities and surrounding
The most practised outdoor activity at Garzonera is English riding. All the year round Garzonera offers a riding school for children and adults. The most experts can afford wonderful horse rides in the woods and in the “brughiera”, the typical local countryside. In June and July you can book a special riding camp for kids, with or without overnight stay.
It is possible to hire a bike, or get a guided trip on foot or by bicycle, we will be glad to organize it for you. We are in the middle of the lakes district, so that you will have the possibility to choose between bike trips and trekking, around the Varese and Comabbio lakes along the bike lanes, or following the tracks through the woods and the landscape of the Parco del Ticino.
The Maggiore Lake is also round the corner, with the Borromee Isles, the Rocca of Angera, the hermitage of Santa Caterina, just to summon some of the beautiful places our area is famous for. Within 15 km you can also find different golf courts (Varese, Agrate Conturbia, Travedona Monate), many sailing schools and rowing clubs (on Maggiore, Monate, Comabbio and Varese lakes).
