We thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay at Cascina Folletto. Our room was lovely...filled with beautiful antiques. In fact, the whole house was filled with beautiful antiques. We
were served some of Andre's wine by the fireplace in the parlor every night, we took walks and saw more pheasants in one day than most people see in a year. Maria Rosa cooked a wonderful dinner for us that we were able to share with the family. We spent Labor Day with the family at a neighborhood picnic. After that, Andreina took us to their vineyard where Andre gave us a most educational tour of the winery including tasting and then a trip in the tractor trailer up to the top of the vineyard to enjoy the beautiful view. We had to leave very early the next day, and despite our protests, Maria Rosa was up with coffee waiting for us. She also prepared a little bag with all the necessities for our drive. We left packed with wine, jams, chick pea flour (to make the farinata) and fond memories of new friends. If we return to Italy, we will definitely stay at Cascina Folletto again. My husband and I had a beautiful stay at Cascina Folletto. When we missed our train to Novi Ligure, Andreina insisted she come and pick us up at the station in Tortona. After a drive to the piedmont region, which by the way, has some of the best wines in Italy, we came to thier beautiful county farm home. After a long day of traveling by train, we feasted on local cheeses, meats, strawberries, and Mutti wine before we went to bed.
The home, garden and rooms were so comfortable and beautiful.
This is the perfect place to relax, read, walk, paint or nap. We enjoyed walking the roads to photograph poppies and fields so typical of the Italian countryside. At 3 pm Andreina picked us up and took us on a private tour of her husband's family vineyard on the hillside.Thank you Andre!. We so much enjoyed talking to you and appreciate
the time you took to hook up the wagon and tow us up the hillside to view your beautiful vineyard, when you were needing to spray your fungicide! We tasted some of the best local wine, met wonderful friends, and went back and had home-made pizza with the family. The personal touch of Andreina, her mother Rosa Maria, and her family made our stay on of my favorite memories of our trip to Italy. I would highly recommend staying at Cascina Folletto to get an authentic taste of Italy. And besides getting a unique experience of Italy, the rooms and accommodations are very nice at a very good price.
