Situated between the Langhe and Monferrato areas, between the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, Cuneo and Savona, the village of Bubbio is located at an altitude of 224 metres a.s.l., and is surrounded by amazing valleys made up of woodlands, fields and cultivated areas where vineyards dominate the landscape. A fascinating land where you can discover history, folklore and excellent cuisine with Ligurian influences and grand wines renown worldwide. Tasty dishes and typical products can be savoured in the numerous restaurants and farmhouses of the area.
Bubbio is one of the 16 villages which make up the Mountain Community of the Langa Astigiana area, whose capital is Roccaverano, a wonderful little village located at 800 metres a.s.l., the highest of all the province of Asti. Breath-taking views can be admired where you can enjoy a 360° panorama stretching far across to the Alps and the Ligurian sea. A special praise is reserved for the delicious ?Robiola di Roccaverano DOP? cheese. Made exclusively from selected goats' milk, it's possible to taste and buy it from the local producers.
An ideal land for gourmet and sports lovers', but also for trekking and bicycle fans'. The nearby Roman spa town of Acqui Terme (18 km) offers many delights; visitors can enjoy the archaeological sites and many attractions, relaxing days at the spa centres, shopping in the charming boutiques and characteristic shops in the historic centre, or choose from the many events organized at regional and national level such as Premio Acqui Storia ( a Literature prize-awarding event), la mostra Antologica (the anthological Art exhibition) the regional wine & food and truffle fair Acqui e Sapori, the Festa delle Feste during which all the local villages prepare their traditional tasty dishes, and the wine producers offer tastings of all the excellent local wines.
An area which boasts a number of lively villages, most of which have known how to maintain intact their valuable traditions; during the Spring and Summer an endless choice of events and typical villages feasts are organized linked with old traditions and wine & food specialities.
A short drive away (12 km from Bubbio) is Canelli (direction Asti), one of the most important Italian Wine Cities renown for its underground wine Cathedrals and important wine-making firms such as Riccadona, Contratto and Gancia. In June the historical re-enactment of the Assedio di Canelli (the Siege) takes place. Another important historical re-enactment is the Palio di Asti, one of the most important events organized in the region of Piedmont.
Due to its strategic position neighbouring with the Ligurian Apennine mountains, many sea-side resorts are easily reached in less than an hour by car, and in around 2 hours the breath-taking Alps.
