The Tenuta is the associated vineyards, the situation is unusual as far as it really is off the beaten path. Our room was spacious. All this would not impressive, were it not Loredana and Angelo, the most lovable host, and the exceptional hospitality that we have experienced here. The culinary arts are unparalleled by Loredana. One can not miss it, here to eat dinner. Angelo's great gift is to get yourself a colorful motley crew with people from all over the world under one roof and to tell many interesting things about the country and its people. Highly recommended!

Review:

We were made very welcome even though we speak no Italian and our hosts speak little English - but we still managed to get by. The surroundings are quite spectacular, the propery is set in amongst the mountains with beautiful views. The swimming pool is lovely and the whole atmosphere is relaxing, chilled and calm. The food was absolutely amazing with breakfasts taken in the family kitchen and dinner on the terrace - dinner was very special on the two nights that we stayed.

On the downside we were a bit disappointed in our room which we thought was a bit basic although adequate. It's also quite a long way from Agrigento (35 km approx which means about an hour's journey to get to the valley of the temples). And it's quite pricey with dinner at 30 euros per person plus 12 euros for a bottle of home produced wine, this is on top of the 110 euros for a room with breakfast for two. So our two night stay cost nearly 400 euros. But we did share the place with just one other couple so it was lovely.

Our other concern is that they are just about to open two 'cabins' which each contain two double bedrooms so this will mean lots more visitors and much less exclusivity. Angelo (our host) also has plans for camping and more cabins.

Would we go back? Probably if it wasn't for the threat of lots more guests. For us the cost was offset against having the place to ourselves (almost). I don't think we would be quite so happy to pay so much if we had to share with lots of other guests.

This was a wonderful place to visit. The food was great, the owners were wonderful and the mountain setting was beautiful. My only problem was the cost. Being the agriturismo was in such a remote location, I think the cost was too high. And the diner, 35 euro per person plus 12 euros for a bottle of wine which they produced. In US dollars that was $150 meal for two. We stayed in many agriturismos in Sicily and Italy and never ever paid these prices. If it wasn't for the cost, I would have given 5 stars. I just hate to get taken.
» [Casale Leto -Tenuta San Giovanni] reply: My dear customers would rather find the signature to your comments, I understand that there is the cost seemed excessive, but you should specify what you ate. A long range of starters, fish and meat dishes, side dishes, a large variety of fresh fruits, cakes, marzipan, Moscato wine, brandy, coffee all at will and "UNLIMITED". I also want to add that in any place drinks are extra. However, despite all it was a pleasure meeting you.

What a beautiful spot Casale Leto possesses, on top of a mountain with beautiful scenery in every direction. The only thing better than the view, was the warm hospitality of Angelo, Loredona, daughters Miriam and Serena. They treated us like family as we ate dinner in the kitchen with them. Loredona is a gourmet cook. The food was just outstanding. There was so much I wanted to learn about the family but the language barrier is great even with my little Italian dictionary. But that shouldn't stop anyone from visiting Casale Leto because warm hospitality is universal. I want to go back someday and take my husband, plus stay longer than just the two nights. My friend and I were traveling all around to each province in Sicily so had to move on. I have great memories of this place and this wonderful, hard working family with a true talent for making guests feel at home and well fed.

Review:

My wife and I stayed at Casale Leto as a base to visit our grandparents birthplaces. Her grandparents to the north and mine to the east of this fantastic place. We were out most of the day, leaving after eating a fantastic breakfast, visiting relatives. We were sorry that we couldn't stay and spend more time at this fantastic place. Angelo and his wife were fantastic hosts and daughter Serena can speak English better than she thinks, which helped when our Italian failed us. It is in the country and not easy to initially find, but well worth the drive. The scenery is unbelievable which my wife said looks like a backdrop to a back drop to a movie. We only had a short time to spend due to commitments and would like to return some day and spend more time in the surrounding villages and Agrigento. If you want a beautiful county setting and lifestyle, fantastic food and hospitality, I would recommend Casale Leto!
