The agriturismo
The agriturismo is the Baronial mansion of the Nicolosi Asmundo family, built in 1800 and recently restored, preserving its classic Sicilian design with vaults in lava stone.
The accommodation
The agriturismo offers two large communal rooms and four bedrooms with private terrace overlooking the sea and vineyard.
Guests may avail of a panoramic swimming pool in lava stone next to the vineyards, complete with spacious patio for sunbathing or for a cocktail at sunset.
The old winery can be visited with tastings of wines (Etna DOC wines, produced since 1727) accompanied by the chef’s own gourmet creations (using produce from the farm’s organic vegetable garden and other local products).
Activities and surrounding
Guests can enjoy a Wine Tour of the estate, which includes a visit to the historical winery, built in 1850 (one of the first in Sicily), and tastings of five wines produced on-site accompanied by a platter of typical local products. It is also possible to take a tour of the vineyards with a wine expert who will introduce visitors to the world of vine growing and wine.
Just 5 minutes from the agriturismo is the Etna Adventure Park which offers climbing and single-track cycling trails through the trees.
The agriturismo boasts a strategic position for visiting some of Sicily’s most interesting sites: Taormina, the Gole dell'Alcantara gorges, and Catania. Excursions up Mt Etna (by jeep and along hiking trails) are also organised.
