Antico Feudo San Giorgio

The farmhouse was built around mid nineteenth century; apart from some recent renovations, the house has been this way since the late nineteenth century. 

Orazio Fatta della Fratta, father of Giancorrado, was quite an innovative farmer for his time and won a lot of awards for his wheat (in the past Sicily was the most important Italian producer of cereals). San Giorgio is now the family home of Giancorrado and Fabiola Fatta della Fratta, who live both in San Giorgio and in Palermo. Organic agriculture today is a way of life because it aims to produce good food from a balanced soil, to use crop rotations and to not overwork the soil because you want your impact on the environment to be as low as possible. So do we.
Each season has its own beauty throughout the year: in San Giorgio everything is green until the end of May; in June until mid July everything is golden because there is an abundance of wheat. In August temperatures are usually high and the season is very dry. In the winter sometimes there is snow and everything is white and luminous.

Antico Feudo San Giorgio is made up of 14 independent accommodation solutions, set around a landscaped courtyard. The ground floor accommodations are: four two bedroom self catering cottages, Crociata, Destra (the latter is disabled friendly too), Firrichicchio and Gavette; a double room, Ribatteria, a mini suite, Aia Naca, a triple room, Cozzo Parrino. First floor accommodations are: a large three bedroom cottage, Passo Ruvolo, a two bedroom cottage, San Giuliano, two mini suites, Valle di Bonanno and Passo Matina, and three double bedrooms, Piccionaia, Portella Creta, Ferrigna. All rooms have their own bathroom with shower facilities and central heating. Hair dryers are available upon request; prices are inclusive of heating, electricity, all bed and kitchens linen, hand and bath towels.

The swimming pool at the foot of the mountains measures 8x16 metres and you can enjoy swimming from May 15th until October 15th; close to the pool, there is an outdoor children's play area. In winter time we have an indoor play room with table tennis and soccer. Our current animals are Martina and Giovanni (Martina loves to be petted), two six years old donkeys from Ragusa, a lot of cats, several sheeps with theirs lambs, some chickens and geese and a herd of marchigiana (an italian race of cows). We are seeking to minimize waste by recycling glass, paper and plastic. For the restaurant we mainly use our own products (vegetables, meat, olive oil, wine, herbs, sage, rosemary, mint, oregano) with their special flavours and, if this is not possible, we use local suppliers and environmentally friendly products. We provide visitor information packs on local walks and fauna and flora indigenous to our site.
