The agriturismo

Between the Syracusecoasts and the Val di Noto, at the start of the Ibleo plain that descends towards Modica, shortly before the town of Buccheri, a small village dating back to the XVI century recently rebuilt with care. In a position overlooking a silent valley quilted with centuries-old olive trees and almond trees, offers an elegant and simple atmosphere, in total communion with nature.

The accommodation

A rural village in the XVI century, the Agritourism rises in the heart of an uninterrupted valley without modern buildings, intensely cultivated and cared for, still in perfect equilibrium with nature. The housing blocks are developed with the typical internal court yard structure: a main area in which all the houses open up with a panoramic terrace overlooking the valley. The construction evolved over time in this nucleus has joined the housing blocks, respecting the form of the earth, with its alternating levels and elevations.

The ten rooms were all built in the historic manor farm housing block, maintaining its original volumes and characteristics. All of the rooms have a different panoramic view and are immersed in the landscape. The internal spaces, rebuilt using traditional Sicilian materials such as terracotta floors and sandstone walls, are spacious and full of light.   All of the rooms have a window with a view, independent entry, bath in room with anteroom and central heat.  The furniture, simple in style and materials, offers a refreshing and relaxing context, in perfect harmony with nature; all of the comforts of simple and elegant charm.

There are numerous common areas carved in an original manner on the side of the hill, on varying levels and with different views. At the center of the village is Piazzetta Matrice, a large paved area carved out of bare stone, with bistro tables, seats and umbrellas.  The two restaurants overlook the piazza: Sala Grande, which takes up an entire housing block, is a large rustic area with two old stone fireplaces, easily accommodating up to 60 people. The saletta Colazione (Breakfast room), with its suggestive exposed stone vault is instead reserved for resident guests: here breakfast is served in the morning in a private and very welcome atmosphere.   From the Piazzetta by way of a lava stone staircase, the balcony can be reached for access to the main housing block, in its high panoramic position.
Under the Piazetta a solarium with tables and chairs has been built, the barbecue corner is used for summer evenings outdoors and the ornamental garden terracing offers another relaxing and quiet corner. Passing under a stone lintel we follow along towards the valley through a very characteristic path carved out of bare stone. From here, our first stop is the giardinetto del Pozzo: a small ornamental garden with stone seats and gazebo, embellished with flowers that are typical of historic Sicilian gardens.
Descending again, we come to the suggestive Grotta area: an embankment surrounded by centuries-old laurels, behind the stream, with a natural cave that was historically used as a stable: here we find a refreshment area with armchairs and tables where aperitifs are served at dusk and where we can stretch out to read or chat.
