The agriturismo

The 19th century buildings on the agriturismo, nestled in a large estate planted with citrus fruits and vegetables, has been renovated in keeping with the original design. They are 7 km from Siracusa, to the south of the large port, in the area just before the Plemmirio protected marine park, on the Baroque route just a few minutes from the Arenella and Fontane Bianche beaches.

The accommodation

The agriturismo, with a large swimming pool set in the greenery, is made up of two buildings. The older one is home to the old wine-making area where the grapes used to be pressed and the must fermented and the room with the large oven with its unusual, antique shape that conjures up images of country life and fragrances from times-gone-by of bread fresh from the oven, stuffed focaccias and roasted vegetables.

 

The agriturismo kitchen offers the authentic flavours of Sicilian cooking right from breakfast with homemade cakes and jams served in the winery room or in the garden, in the shade of the age-old olive tree.
The scents continue at dinner time with traditional dishes, such as the farm’s vegetables and olives, which come in a thousand varieties from starters through to side dishes, with a hint of sweet and sour taken from Arab dishes.
To finish with, desserts featuring almonds, lemon and sesame, accompanied by a glass of sweet muscat or zibibbo wine.

 

The buildings are surrounded by a large garden which leads directly to almost all the accommodation - 11 rooms and 4 small apartments with minibar and hairdryer: quiet, spacious, furnished with taste and simplicity, in keeping with the charming atmosphere of the whole property.

Activities and surrounding

The agriturismo enables guests to enjoy the magnificent sea and is also a strategic starting point for visits to UNESCO “World Heritage” sites, such as Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa, Modica, Scicli, Palazzolo Acreide, Ispica or Pantalica. From Siracusa, visitors can go on day trips to Malta.

The agriturismo is also ideal for various natural excursions, for example to Etna, the Cavagrande lakes, the sources of the river Ciane or the necropolis in Pantalica.
