When one thinks of a protected natural area, one is imagining immediately natural areas far away from the populated city centers, you are picturing mountains, forests and swamps designed and costructed from the slow rhythms of the nature, more than from the achievements of the history of men. Instead, just at the doors of Syracuse, Sicily (Italy), a natural reserve is guarding a site at which the passing of the centuries is intimately interlaced with the history of a city, with its ancient legends and cultural traditions.

And only from middle of the 8th Century, in the description of the Ciane river, was first mentioned the presence of a fascinating plant : the papyrus, the very same papyrus used since the time of the ancient cultures for the preparation of those parchment rolls on which a great part of the history of men has been preserved on. And it is directly in this vast natural reserve where one finds the Villa dei Papiri, the Villa of the Papyrus.

Embedded in the green, equipped with every comfort, it offers its visitors the possibility to relax and savour in tranquillity the beauties of the place, either at the sea or with a diversity of activities like horseback-riding, mountain-biking, excursions etc. But only to the visitor these places will unveil the countless sensations of well-being that associated with them.
