The agriturismo
The farm is perched in the hills overlooking Val di Chio (also known as Valle di Dio or the valley of God) just 2 km from the mediaeval town of Castiglion Fiorentino, half-way between Arezzo and Cortona.
Built in the 1600s, the original farmhouse has been painstakingly restored and the agriturismo opened in 2001, offering hospitality in seven apartments. The renovated farmhouse preserves all the classic charm of a traditional Tuscan home from the past.
Three generations of owners have been producing extra virgin olive oil, which is available for purchase at the reception desk.
The accommodation
Each apartment features genuine Tuscan cotto floor tiles, wood beam ceilings and exposed stonework. Also the furnishing reflects typical Tuscan tradition, with careful attention to detail devoted by the husband and wife team of owners, Elena and Enrico.
Each guest apartment features a unique layout and is equipped with all modern conveniences: fully equipped kitchen, a complementary set of olive oil-based bathroom soaps, crisp new bed linen, satellite television, hair dryer, and air conditioning (with the exception of the Granaio and Loggia apartments, which are equipped with fans). All the apartments have private outdoor areas with table and chairs; Limonaia, Ziraia and Capannina have fenced private patios that are ideal for travellers with pets.
All guests share access to a beautiful terrace with tables, chairs, swing seat and sunshades, with weekly aperitif events organised in the high season. Swings and a slide are available for children.
The 15x9 metre swimming pool with its panoramic view over the hills is surrounded by a grassed area and equipped with a gazebo and loungers with sunshades (towels for the swimming pool can be loaned for a small charge). Ambient temperature shower next to the pool or hot showers in the terrace bathrooms.
The agriturismo also has a large communal lounge with a sofa and armchairs, where guests can browse through the book collection or play one of the many board games provided. Other facilities include: use of mountain bikes free of charge, breakfast served on request directly in each apartment, laundry service, free tours of the olive mill with oil sampling.
