Ranch Ricavo

The ranch occupies 35 hectars of land which is divided into agricultural land and woodland. Next to the sight is a lake that is used for fresh-water fishing, and didactic laboratory for children are organized.

In the area around the Ranch there are many activities to satisfy the needs of both sport lovers and nature lovers. For those who wish to spend pleasant and relaxing stay, apart from enjoying horse riding in the beautiful surrounding countryside, there is also the possibility to practice activities such as Tracking and Mountain Biking, Archery, Fresh-water fishing, Canoeing, Gliding, Quad or Golf, the ranch is also in proximity of the Mugello race track.

The Mugello is situated at the feet of the Tuscan Appenines where outdoor adventure’ lovers can enjoy beautiful tracking whether it be on horse, foot or mountain bike with many paths that have been sign-posted by national tracking associations. These paths are all dotted with places to eat and sleep.

Lake Bilancino can be found just three miles away, an artificial lake which was originally intended to solve the Florence’s water-shortage problems, but has recently become a great tourist attraction. The lake has several bathing areas equipped with all the facilities and also other sport activities such as fresh-water fishing, sailing, wind-surfing and canoeing. The lake is also surrounded by a network of paths suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding.

Next to the lake, and only five minutes away from the ranch there is a WWF wild bird reserve at Gabbianello, where you can see storks, herons, wild geese, flamingos and various other wild species.

For those who prefers more cultural outings, this area has no lack of beautiful ancient towns and villages, museums, villas and castles. The ranch is in the municipality of Scarperia which has been officially recognised as one of the 100 most beautiful towns in Italy. The town contains a myriad of narrow medieval streets that spread out from a central square that is dominated by the splendid Palazzo dei Vicari. Scarperia is also famous for the manufacture of hand-made knives that are exported all over the world. It also hosts many festivals and banquets that can be enjoyed by visitors throughout the year.

For those of you who would enjoy the breathtaking experience there is a small private airport just a mile and a half away from the Ranch.
For golfers, the famous Poggio dei Medici golf course just a couple of miles away from us.
