Terre di Baccio

In the very centre of the 50 acre estate, planted with vineyards and olive groves, stands a recently renovated cluster of buildings, known as Casale di Baccio, which dates from the XVI century and has recently been converted into a country residence for guests.
The owners, of ancient Florentine and Guatemalan origin, have preserved the original architectural characteristics of the Casale, combining stone, terracotta and old wooden beams with furnishings and handicrafts typical of central America.
With the professional advice of one of Italy's leading oenologists, 13 acres of specialized vineyards were planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot vines to produce excellent wines, aged in barriques in the farm's own historic cellar. The farm produces SUPERTUSCAN wines (Rosso del Casale and Rosso di Baccio), Vin Santo and CHIANTI CLASSICO Grappa as well as extra virgin olive oil from over 1000 olive trees. The farm estate is also a producer member of the “Zima di Firenze” Consorzio dello Zafferano delle Colline Fiorentine which was recently granted DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) status by the European Community.


The farm estate offers 4 apartments, each with its own separate entrance, on the first floor of the Casale and in the old dovecote tower.
Each apartment has a kitchen, bedrooms with bath, and characteristic intermediate floors, enabling from 2 – 12 persons to be accommodated, with various modular combinations depending on requirements.

On the ground floor of the Casale, besides a spacious lounge with fireplace, sixteenth century cellar and dining room where breakfast is served, there are 4 bedrooms with bath, converted from the old stables which still conserve characteristic feeding troughs. In the adjacent, completely renovated, BACCIO HAYBARN are two splendid apartments each suitable for four people.

On arrival guests will be greeted with simple and genuine hospitality and a “welcome toast” in the magical atmosphere of the sixteenth century wine cellar.
During their stay, guests are welcome to use the panoramic swimming pool and the numerous sun-beds set amongst the olive trees. Close to the swimming pool an inviting “wellness” area has been set up (sauna awaiting completion) and gym.
