The Sassone Estate, due to its extraordinary and prominent location, enjoys the wonderful climate that the hills above the Maremma are renowned for: winters are gentle with few rainy days and summers are cool and dry. The estate's facilities, including the swimming pool, trekking routes and naturalist excursions allow all guests a rich and varied stay. Furthermore, the Maremma provides a host of interesting trips for those wishing to fully appreciate this wonderful part of Tuscany.

The nearby sea is regarded as one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy and is only a few minutes away by car (Punta Ala, Torre Civetta, Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia). It offers wide beaches with shady pine woods (Casetta Civilini, Torre Mozza, Prato Ranieri) or lovely rock shores (Le Rocchette). The Argentario promontory has beaches and harbours that attracts visitors from all over Europe (Porto Ercole, Porto Santo Stefano, Talamone) and can be reached in about half an hour, while at just fifteen minutes you can see the new tourist port of Etruria Marina (Portiglioni di Scarlino). The ferries for the islands of Elba, Giglio, Corsica, Capraia, Giannutri and Pianosa are just 40 minutes away (north of Piombino - south of Porto Santo Stefano). Ferry boat times to reach the islands range from 1 hour (Elba) to three (Corsica).
Thermal Baths:the Maremma has many thermal springs in the region offering extraordinary healing properties that was first discovered by the Etruscan people. From the Sassone estate, the nearest spots are Saturnia, Caldana and Venturina.
The Maremma Natural Park is one of the most interesting and diverse in Italy and well worth a trip. The Park begins at the mouth of the Ombrone river area, rich with vegetation and marshes. At the border of the marshes people still breed the typical horse of the region, the Maremman horse, and white cows with long horns. The countryside presents many canals red with "semprevivo" weeds in every season. The area between the mountains and the see is like a triangle with the famous Alberese pine wood. Behind the pine woods you can see the "Uccellina" mountains filled with natural caves and towers. The beaches are maybe the last surviving natural and untouched sea coasts in our Country. Tourists can visit the park and can buy the tickets for the tour at the tourist centre in Alberese village.
Two 18 hole golf course is of competition standard are located some 10 minutes and less than 40 minutes away from the estate. Moreover there is a riding school 5 km from the estate. The more expert riders can make some excursions in the surrounding woods without restrictions.

An hours gentle walk from the estate brings you to the evocative Pia de'Tolomei castle, also worth visiting is the Etruscan site near the Accesa lake (ten minutes by car) and the Etruscan town at Vetulonia. Roselle is an ancient city and port of Etruscan and Roman origin. Populonia is another important site, and try not to miss the Golfo di Baratti necropolis, or Sovana.
