There are walks through historical villages and small towns full of local character, through Mediterranean woodlands, vineyards and olive groves.
As well Orbetello and Porto Ercole, the Maremma region conceals a large number of small towns and villages which are fascinating, not only for the beauty of their natural environment but also for their history. After a visit to these little towns, the famous tourist centres of Tuscany are a short distance away. Pisa, Siena, Florence and Arezzo await you.Discover the beauty of the Siena landscape with Italian heritage railways. The marvellous Maremma landscapes and countryside are best seen when crossed on foot. From Grosseto to the via Aurelia, this is a territory that man has always walked for thousands of years, and has always been rewarded by its unspoiled nature and breathtaking landscapes.
Below is a list of the better known and favourite walking trails, including the length in kilometres and the differences in level.
Sports fans will find their paradise in Maremma. Podere Carceroni rents out a range of bicycles, and with riding stables in close proximity, they will organise guided riding tours to be able to enjoy the beauty of the countryside in complete freedom.

People have benefited from the thermal waters of Maremma for over a thousand years: the Etruscans who were already experts in the curative properties of the waters founded the first thermal baths, and these have continued through the centuries ever since.
Today, more than ever, thanks to the large number of thermal spas in the area, Maremma is the idea place to spend some time in total relaxation.
Tuscany is one of the best regions in Italy for hunting and welcomes about 110.000 hunters every year. The legal hunting season (between the 16th of September and the 31st of January every year) is open in 19 areas in the region (while hunting is strictly prohibited in 25% of the territory). Pheasants, partridge, grouse wild boar and hare can be hunted near the Podere. Wild fowl hunting is limited to the hunting season described above, while boar can be hunted between the 1st of November and the 15th of March, even with snow on the ground. 
Training hunting dogs with gunfire is permitted all the other days of the year. As well being renowned for its wild boar and wood pigeon hunting, Tuscany is also famous for its fishing: Tuscany has about 12 thousand kilometres of rivers and canals that can provide excellent fishing for about 50,000 fishermen.
