The agriturismo

The agriturismo is located amidst 400 hectares of fields and woods that offer a spectacular landscape and numerous paths for sports lovers.
It is just a few minutes from cities of art, beaches and the quaint town of Suvereto. 

It offers an on-site artisanal brewery with the possibility for tasting and tours, a restaurant with dishes made from 100% local ingredients, and many farm animals including horses, cows, donkeys, a pig, bees and a dog.  It is possibile to take horseback riding lessons or go on a trail ride.

Starting from the agriturismo, there are many mapped and signed trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.

It is the perfect base for your vacation in Tuscany.

The accommodation

The building holds 20 apartments ranging from studio flats for two people up to quadruple flats for a maximum of 6/7 people.

In the upper structure there is the historic farmhouse - San Ottaviano, which houses the restaurant, reception, craft brewery and some apartments.

The other apartments are found in the lower, more quiet section of the farm amidst an active olive grove. All apartments at Podere I Massoni overlook the pool area.

All of the apartments have been renovated, but retain their original structure and charm, and respect the standards of country decor in order to fully enjoy the location.
Each unit has its own entrance and a veranda with table and chairs - great for relaxing in the fresh air or for a candlelit dinner.

The 17m x 8m pools are equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas, and look out over the valley. Numerous barbecue grills are situated in various locations at the agriturismo.
There is an antique common room (the old oil mill) with arched ceilings where there is a pool table, and around the corner, the TV room.
Receptions, meetings and weddings can be organized in this room. 

In our restaurant you can taste the specialties of Tuscan cuisine, made with local and seasonal products, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Starting in June 2012, Agriturismo San Ottaviano has added the Birrificio de'Neri, where it produces an excellent artisanal craft beer. Guests may particepate in brewery tours and tastings, and of course, we offer all of our brews in our restaurant.

Activities and surrounding

The surrounding countryside offers numerous possibilities for excursions on foot, by bicycle, or on horseback. Maps of the trails are available at the office.

Pets are always welcome.

The small village of Suvereto - the closest town (9 km) - is a wonderful destination for food, culture and events.  It still has all the charm of an ancient medieval village.

The closest beaches (about 25 kim) are some of the prettiest in Tuscany: the Golf of Follonica and the Golf of Baratti.  Both have received the blue flag; sandy beaches with a view of Elba. The depth of the water near the shore is low enough for children to play and swim, creating a relaxing day at the beach.
Follonica and San Vincenzo are also great for shopping and nightlife.

From the agriturismo you can easily reach Pisa and Siena at about 80 km; Florence about 148 km; the beautiful medeival town of Volterra can be reached in 57 km; Massa Marittima, a known city of historical value is 27 km away.
The close proximity to Piombino ensures quick transport to the island of Elba, which can be reached in an hour by ferry.

The aspect we find particular is the contrast between a tourism made of culture, relax and contact with nature to another made of amusement and feast in experiencing the numerous festivals, fairs and events that characterize the villages of the valley during the whole year: the chestnut fair, the mushrooms fair, the potato and the tortello fairs, the Biennial festival of the wrought iron in Stia, the Giumela in Pratovecchio, only to quote few ones.

Good morning,

Thanks for the review. We are very surprised by the 5 star rating and your comments. Our B&B has 17 apartments (most of them for 4-6 people) of which some double rooms and breakfast is compulsory (it is a B&B). In this period, the small accommodations are occupied immediately and so, yes, the double rooms (included in the package) were full (as they are for the near future). Before booking, everything was communicated and it was very clear what was to be paid and what was included, and therefore, the choice was yours.

Given the COVID situation, we can no longer make our buffet, and therefore, breakfast is served at the table. We have never missed the products that are all LOCAL or HOME MADE of an EXCELLENT quality, and can be asked WITHOUT WANT, so we remain confused about the comments of the breakfast. We are sorry if this service was not what you preferred, but given the new rules, unfortunately we can not do otherwise. Clearly, being in the countryside, if you have jam on the outside table at 9.00 a.m. we could also get a wasp and we are sorry, but there is nothing else we can do to suggest eating at the tables inside where there are no insects.

Our restaurant is closed only on Wednesday evenings and we offer HAND-MADE PIZZE in our old wooden oven. WE NEVER HAVE HAVE A NEGATIVE COMMENT ON PIZZE. In fact it often remains one of the highlights of the week for our guests. They are really good and even the dough is made by us. Guests can eat them on their terraces or on the terrace of the restaurant. This is also communicated before arrival.

We inform all our guests that we do not have air conditioning (which is not needed at this time) and we do NOT have mosquitoes in our location. The studios are located on the ground floor with an embankment in the old stables of the farm and are very pleasant during the summer because they stay cool, but of course they have windows on one side. However, there are photos of each apartment on our website so that you can evaluate your accommodation before booking.

If I can make a kind suggestion, I would advise you to evaluate well your needs before choosing a place to stay because if there are already problems or controversy before arriving, it certainly does not give you the chance to get off on the right foot :)
