The Farmhouse has been constructed on the foundations of a medieval farmer's house. Its name is deduced from the source that, in former times, supplied a castle. Remains of this castle can be found in the neighboring wood. "Fontesettimena" has been carefully restored in the style of the area short time ago by using tufa and "mattoni", the original Tuscan bricks. The property is beautifully situated on a height, which opens the view on a panorama of hills and woods that variously change their colours according to the season. Not far away from our property there are typical Tuscan bars and restaurants. It takes you 15 minutes by car to Volterra or to San Gimignano and nearly one hour to the seaside.
"Fontesettimena" is situated in midst the landscape, hence offering the possibility for extensive walking or cycling tours, through the fields or the chestnut oak forests. We offer the visit of an alabaster quarry, a cavern owned by our family where the precious material is still being won. You may also visit the typical alabaster laboratories in Volterra watching the masters' skill in producing handicrafts and ornamental objects. Our property offers you some typical products of Tuscany, for example our marvelous olive oil. Like in former times, the olives are picked by hand in november. They are being sorted out, washed and pressed coldly. Moreover, we offer you various kinds of smelly honey from our own stocks.

In less than one hour important tuscan cities and places with their attractions can be reached: the distance to Volterra is 12 km, 25 km to San Gimignano, 20 km to Colle Val d'Elsa, the city of crystal, 70 km to Pisa and 60 km to Florence. Therefore, "Fontesettimena" is an ideal starting point for many tours and excursions. Also the seaside is nearby: it takes you less than one hour by car.
