The agriturismo
Big farmhouse of the 18th century. It’s a sort of symbol of the typical Tuscany construction which dominates the valley: the view is of 360° over the Appennini mountains, the Alpi Apuane, the Pisa Mountains as far as your eyes can see the sea at the horizon.
The farmhouse is situated in the midway between Pisa and Florence, in an isolated position but at the same time only few steps far from San Miniato which is a medieval little country rich in monuments like old churches.
Montalto is a property of 36 hectare where for many years have been cultivated autochthon vines, mainly Sangiovese. Through a meticulous work in the vineyards and a careful process of wine-making and fining, our red wines have reached a position of prestige.
The accommodation
All the 10 rooms, with bathroom, shower and TV SAT, are characterized by the heat of the wooden beams and firebricks and all have been furnished in the poor art style Tuscany.
A particularity… Every room with its position takes the name from the view on which it appears.
Montalto offers comforts like quiet places to relax and read: the spacious panoramic terrace, the garden with the old threshing floor and a swimming pool (size 12 x 8) situated in the greenery and in the silence, with a spot dedicate to the hydro-massage.
Our property offers the possibility to practise activity in contact with the nature like mountain bikes, ping pong, walking in the nearby woods and guide to the agricultural activities (vintage in September and olive-harvesting in November).
Our cooking invites from the early morning to taste the good home-made things with a breakfast rich in sliced ham, cheese and eggs, honey and jam, yogurt’s cake, orange-juice und fresh fruits. For dinner you can taste the typical Tuscany “bruschetta”, home-made pasta, vegetables timbales, mushroom, roast-steak and in November, by request, tasting menu of the white Truffle of San Miniato.
