In the nearby park area, on the slopes of Monte Cetona, and with stunning views, there is a swimming pool, the children’s play area, table tennis, bowls, archery and also a barbecue area. This area is lit up until midnight. Our horses roam in the fields near this area and we produce our own olive oil and grow our own organic vegetables, as well as having plum and cherry trees.
Our ‘agriturismo’ lies within the hamlet of Fonte Vetriana, part of the municipality of Sarteano. Fonte Vetriana has its origins in the Bronze Age. There is a cave known as Toad’s Hole and its commanding position reveal its important use in the long distant past. The hamlet has been home to a few families over the years; the Aggravi, Fastelli and Morgantini families have lived here since the 1600’s, working the soil and living off the land. The hamlet served as a shepherd’s post and had an important role. The priors would visit the place in the days leading up to the Ascension. In the 15th and16th centuries the inhabitants were known as wolf hunters, out of necessity to protect their flocks.
