The agriturismo
La Fonte di Trequanda is a small farmhouse where you will find all the comforts you need to relax and feel at home, in the context of a real farmhouse from the 1700s. It is located in a quiet area, scenically and artistically among the most fascinating in Tuscany, with an unspoiled environment and helpful, welcoming people.
It is located in the middle of a 5-hectare organicfarm that sells its own organic wine and oil. Fruit and vegetables are free for guests.
Available to guests in the common areas are a barbecue, a large garden, and parking - as well as a swimming pool and tennis court. There is an outdoor play area for children equipped with a volleyball net and a small soccer goal.
The accommodation
The farmhouse offers accommodation in 4 apartments.
Il Forno (2/4 people): a room of about 70 square meters on two levels, with a large living room/kitchen on the ground floor where the beautiful 19th-century peasant oven that gives the apartment its name stands out. The first double bedroom is on the upper floor, connected to the room by a characteristic spiral staircase and also equipped with an independent entrance overlooking the garden. En-suite bathroom arranged for disabled accessibility. The second room is located on the same floor as the hall and is equipped with a double bed and bathroom with shower. Possibility to take advantage of the sofa bed to accommodate 1/2 more people.
Il Geranio (2/4 persons): totally independent apartment of 60 square meters, arranged on two floors. The ground floor consists of a living/dining room area with fireplace and kitchenette, and a double bedroom with bathroom equipped with shower. On the upper floor, accessible by the spiral staircase, is a bedroom served by a small bathroom with shower.
Il Focolare (4 people): this warm 65-square-meter apartment takes its name from the antique fireplace that characterizes the living room/kitchen area on the mezzanine level. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both served by a single bathroom with shower, making it particularly suitable for families with children.
Il Nido (2 people): small apartment(30 square meters) intimate and private, perfect for a couple. Equipped with a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, double bedroom served by a bathroom with shower and a small independent terrace where it is possible to have dinner outside during the warm season.
Each apartment has an outdoor space equipped with tables and chairs. Accommodations are suitable for people with disabilities;wifi internet present.
Typical Tuscan dinners and cooking classes are organized upon request.
Activities and surrounding
Numerous and differing in difficulty are hiking and biking trails that allow you to see places inaccessible to cars and left untouched. A riding school is 5 km away.
The many wineries with which the area is dotted allow tastings of some of the best wines in the world: Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti. Local delicacies such as Tuscan cured meats, cheeses, honey and preserves can be sampled.
The nearby Val D'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts beautiful Pienza, the Renaissance city of Pope Pius II, and Bagno Vignoni, an ancient Roman and medieval spa town. Through the Crete Senesi, among ancient monasteries and modern spas, you reach Siena and then the Val di Chiana, with Etruscan vestiges, tombs, museums, and evidence of a shining past (Chiusi, Cortona, Arezzo).
Montepulciano (15 km) and Montalcino (30 km), in addition to wonderful wines, have remarkable artistic riches. Lots of events throughout the year: the Cantiere d'Arte Internazionale in Montepulciano and the Torrita Blues Festival in Torrita di Siena are just two examples.
