The agriturismo

The farmhouse is located on a hill looking across to the medieval town of San Gimignano, it is situated on the Via Francigena (the old Pilgrims' Highway), Torraccia di Chiusi was probably established in the early 11th century, as a means of standing guard over the pilgrims'route. Today it is a registered Organic Farm, with over 20 hectares of land, which has now been restored to its former splendour, which it saw in the days when it was the property of an old family (who lived here for 750 years!). The farmhouse also provides accommodation for tourists, with space for 27 people, and boasts a swimming pool, a health centre, a reading room, and its own restaurant.

The accommodation

On a hill looking across to the medieval town of San Gimignano, nestling in lush countryside in a quiet, unexplored corner of Tuscany, the Agriturismo offers its guests a warm, family-run atmosphere in magnificent, unspoilt surroundings. Housed in a beautifully renovated rural building, it has 8 bedrooms and 3 suites, all spacious and welcoming, and furnished with period furniture, with a special eye for detail.
In carrying out renovation work, we used only environmentally-friendly, energy-saving, and ecologically “sound” materials and techniques (the bedrooms themselves are decorated with eco-friendly paint and natural fibres). They are proud to have received the 2005 award for eco-efficiency, sponsored by the Tuscany Regional Authorities.

The swimming pool commands magnificent views of San Gimignano, and offers relaxation and refreshment on those hot summer days. Their other facilities include a wellness centre with Turkish baths, chromotherapy and massages, including Ayurvedic massages (by prior booking), a Winter Garden with a heated Jacuzzi, 2 Reading rooms/Games rooms, a comfortable lounge, a Dining Room, and outdoor terraces for dining and sampling traditional menus cooked by our own genuine Tuscan chef.

Activities and surrounding

The farmhouse proposes to their guests: courses in Tuscan, Renaissance, and traditional cooking (also available in English); courses and seminars in Etruscan and Roman cooking, archeological excursions and packages, hiking and walking on the Via Francigena, excursions on horse-back, and health sojourns. Their facilities are particularly suited to small conferences and study groups, or specialist seminars. Ideal for exploring the History of Art in Tuscany (Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano).
