The Upper Tiber Valley is in the northernmost Umbrian territory. The Tiber River runs through the entire length of the valley, for 50 km, bestowing great fertility on the soil. The district comprises of several interesting towns including: Città di Castello, Umbertide, Gubbio, Perugia, Spello and Trasimeno Lake. The entire district is home to splendid works of art, and a happy balance has been achieved between ancient and modern tradition. Castles, parish churches, and abbeys bear witness to a history of intense social changes, and artistic and religious lifestyles. Many events of national importance are organised here throughout the year, including music, craftwork, agriculture, gastronomy, and sports.
