The agriturismo

Surrounded of mulberry and olive trees and close to the most popular medieval castles of Umbria (which is also called the green heart of Italy), the “Tenuta San Felice” is more than just a farm.

Since 2001 the families Volpi and Metelli manage the farm, which was neglected for many decades.

Today our guests have the opportunity to stay in an absolutely authentic farm, specialized in the production of a high quality organic olive oil.

The accommodation

THE FARM

The holiday farm, which was before the tenant farmer house, has rooms and flats with different sizes; eachone has a fridge, TV and bathroom. The tourist facility is completely furnished.

The guests have the opprtunity to taste the traditional breakfast „della Nonna“ ( by Grandmother Art) with hand made cakes, Ricotta (when available), marmalade and drinks.

According to our Philosophy we only serve fresh products from our own production.
In summer we offer our guests the possibility to use the swimming pool, located in a completely relaxed athmosphere.

The children have the chance to make new friends at the small playground close to the pool.

THE COUNTRY FARM

The farm’s oil mill is working at the traditional way, where the fruits are squeezed by a stone mill and pressed without any heat (spremitura a freddo).

The result is an absolute genuine natural olive oil, with all ist natural ingredients.

During the olive oil production you can watch and take part at all different satges of the production, from the pressing to the bottling.

Sheep and cattle stray around freeat the farm’s pasture land. The shephered teakes care of the animals food made from organic cereals, grown on the farm.

The farm has a cheese laboratory where we produce Ricotta and Pecorino.

Here it is possible to watch the traditional cheese making, from the manual milking to the final prodcuct. The production of the cheese takes place twice a week from November to July.

THE RESTAURANT

In our Restaurant is possible to taste the traditional dishes of Umbria. The Restaurant is close to the country house and it was just redecorated.

Thanks to our wood oven can you also choice for differents art of Pizza! In summer you can taste our specialties and drinking a tipical wine also outside, in the relaxing garden of the Restaurant. For the guests there is also a comfortable paking.

 

Activities and surrounding

The farm is situated at an altitude of 450 metres, in the mountainside of the Monti Martani.

The neighbouring area offers the guests of the Tenuta various activities from extensive walking and hiking tours and horseback riding to spectacular mountainbike cycling.

Upon request we can provide the guests with mountain guide to wander on the Monti Martani and on wildlife reserve in the vicinity.

The Farm is one station of the „Cammino degli Angeli“, that goes from Rome to Assisi.

Located close to the farm there is the ‘Abbey San Felice’, which gave the farm its name. A bit further away the medieval castle of Giano dell’ Umbria can be found.

During the whole year, the guests have the possibility to spend time with the animals of the farm, particularly interesting for our younger guests.

During the time of the olive oil production (beginning of October-end of December) the guests can watch or participate in the complete working process from the pressing to the bottling of the olive oil.

Between November and June it is possible to witness to the fascinate working of our organic cheese (Ricotta and Pecorino).

The Tenuta is really good located for daytrips to medieval towns, such as Todi, Spoleto, Perugia, Assisi Montefalco and Norcia. All can be reached in about 45 minutes by car.
