Pisticci (Matera) Code
The agriturismo enjoys a hilly location, in the commune of Pisticci, close to the sea off the Ionian coast. A historic hamlet, adapted into guest accommodation, alongside a fortified monastic castle dating back to the VII century, surrounded by thriving nature and olive trees. The Basilian castle then became a Norman fief and later passed to the Benedictines and the Padula Charterhouse.
The castle houses contemporary works of art and also includes an eighteenth-century church; the mighty eleventh-century tower that provided a warning in the case of Saracen attacks from the sea is truly a thing of beauty.
The fully renovated hamlet offers rooms and suites with views of the castle and the surrounding nature. You'll find large double or twin beds, air conditioning, private bathrooms, flat screen TVs, minibars, safes and hairdryers. Wi-Fi internet is also available.
Breakfast comprises a selection of wholesome produce from local farms.
Outside, the agriturismo boasts a swimming pool and whirlpool tub.
The local area offers much to enjoy, from horse riding to golf, windsurfing, hiking and cycling. 4 km takes you to the crystal clear Ionian Sea and its beach resorts, and the estate is less than an hour from Matera.
