The surrounding environment is characterized by wide meadows and woods (which in autumn lend themselves to pleasant chestnut trees), a landscape that allows long walks or bike rides, even in the most hidden paths. The Massif of Sirino, one of the most enchanting nature reserves in Basilicata, is located in the immediate vicinity of the Pollino National Park and the beautiful beaches of the coast of Maratea. Site of Community Interest and Special Protection Area of the province of Potenza, is a predominant part of the National Park of the Lucanian Apennines - Valdagri - Lagonegrese. With its peaks that exceed 2000 meters above sea level, it guarantees good snow throughout the winter period, offering the opportunity to practice ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing. Its peaks are also ideal for lovers of trekking and Nordic walking, who will discover beautiful beech forests and Lake Laudemio, of glacial origin, at over 1500 meters above sea level. Moving only a little further, you can reach the main tourist and cultural destinations both in Basilicata and Salerno, such as the Certosa di San Lorenzo (better known as Certosa di Padula), which in 1998 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Grotte di Pertosa, which date back to 35 million years ago or the (artificial) lake of Pertusillo, a?a work of high hydraulic engineering that has given rise to a reservoir of 155 million cubic meters of water, now rich in fish and refreshment stops along the banks.
