The agriturismo
Ancient farmhouse (4 km from Vaglio Basilicata) renovated respecting the materials of tradition (exposed stone). Around there is an oak forest, perfect for relaxation and for walks that can also lead to the excavations of Serra di Vaglio.
The accommodation
The Farmhouse La Dimora dei Cavalieri has 5 rooms, two of which are double, one triple and two family rooms for up to 4 people. All rooms are cozy and equipped with rustic style furniture, en-suite bathroom, TV.
The restaurant (100 seats) has separate rooms for groups who want more peace and quiet, offering traditional dishes such as lagane and chickpeas, ravioli with ricotta cheese, Agnello Bianco in potato crust, pecorino cheese and ricotta from Neviera.
The products are genuine and for the most part zero km. The sheep and goat farm is renowned for its white lamb. These are infant lambs whose diet is also supported by cereals and farm fodder, suitably floured. The meat is so first quality, ricotta and cheese are made following the traditional cheesemaking techniques. For focaccia and pasta, we use the flour from our own wheat production, such as the famous Senatore Cappelli. The wine is the Aglianico del Vulture.
The lentils, chickpeas and potatoes are from the nearby Terre di Braida. From June to September most vegetables are at zero kilometre. Guests can collect their favourite vegetables directly from the garden. Meals end with Grandma Maria's rosolio!
Activities and surrounding
You can take part in business activities. Do not miss the Grancia Park, where you can watch the show of the Bandita History, and the Lucane Dolomites where, starting from Castelmezzano or Pietrapertosa, you can fly the angel, a crossing of the high speed valley simulating the bird flying. To visit the villages of Castelmezzano, Pietrapertosa and Acerenza (all belonging to the most beautiful villages of Italy) and the medieval towns of Vaglio and Cancellara. The location is perfect for trips to Matera, Melfi, Venosa, Castel Lagopesole, San Fele waterfalls, Monticchio lakes, all within a maximum of one hour drive.
