The agriturismo
The Agriturismo is situated in Davoli Marina, on the Ionian coast of Calabria, just 2 kms from Soverato. It has been created on a biological farm covering 13 hectares of citrus and olive groves, where barnyard animals, Tibetan goats and a few horses are partly free to roam and offers accommodations in rooms.
The accommodation
The farmhouse is surrounded by fruit trees, citrus groves and gardens, consisting of two buildings which house the rooms destined for use with the formulas of Bed & Breakfast or half-board. The restaurant area is particularly lovely, full of ancient charm. The 'agriturismo' also caters for caravans and campers and an ample parking space is available for guests.
The buildings were once a farmstead, and all the original open-faced stone walls, together with the niches, window-frames and rustic terracotta floors have been preserved. Renovation work has returned these elements to their best, making them functional, and bringing in line with current regulations what was once a countryside farmhouse. Every detail is lovingly cared for, while the structure's charm is enhanced by the presence of kittens, puppies, goats and kids, hens, geese, turkeys and roosters which range free around the buildings, to the joy of our younger guests.
The restaurant presents typical Calabrian dishes, with a wealth of abundant appetizers consisting of seasonal vegetables, local salami, pressed and cured meats and cheeses. Among the first courses guests will discover original, old-fashioned local flavors, strictly prepared according to ancient Calabrian tradition. Food and drink are served on plates and in cups and beakers that are craftsman made only from local clay.
The farmhouse holiday centre has been created on a biological farm covering 13 hectares of citrus and olive groves, where barnyard animals, Tibetan goats and a few horses are partly free to roam. The farm dates from the beginning of the 1800's, is surrounded by a number of farmhouses from the same period, and has belonged to the Barbieri family since that time. The agriturismo is bordered by century-old cypresses, conducive to marvelous, relaxing walks. In one of the ancient buildings a cheerful, pleasant snack bar has recently been opened.
