The agriturismo
A 57-hectare farm that lies within the Pollino National Park, on the slopes of Mount Sellaro. Thanks to its strategic location, at around 400 m. above sea level, there is a striking panorama that sweeps from the Sibari Plain and the Ionian Sea to the Sila Mountains.
The accommodation
The farm is surrounded by greenery, consisting mainly of typical Mediterranean scrub rich in color and centuries-old olive trees.
The recently restored masseria represents the typical Calabrian herd of yesteryear, with the farmhouse, stable, and sheepfold. From these structures, maintaining their rural characteristics and original materials, stone and wood, we obtained several accommodations with related services and a dining room where you can taste the traditional flavors of Calabrian cuisine.
All rooms have bathrooms equipped with shower trays, and are also equipped with double beds (with the possibility of adding 1 or 2 single beds), heating and fans. All rooms have independent external entrances and are side by side and all located on the ground floor, they have 2 to 3 windows and overlook the verandaa front, they do not have a kitchenette but it is possible to use the farm restaurant where both farmhouse guests and outsiders are welcomed.
Meals are served in the dining room, which is equipped with television, a wood-burning fireplace and air conditioning and whose maximum seating capacity is 50. The cuisine is typical and it is possible to taste cheeses, cold cuts, pickles, vegetables, pasta, wine, oil, fruit and jams produced directly on the farm. Breakfast is sweet but on request also savory.
Parking is private, next to the rooms.
Activities and surrounding
On the farm, walks are possible among the various mule tracks present where the pristine landscape, bordered by several caves, helps to relive remote eras, when the area was dominated by nature and the brigands who found refuge there. Trekking and complete relaxation are possible on the farm.
On the farm, the canons oforganic farming are followed with typical Calabrian productions: olives and oil, figs, vegetables, wine, cured meats, cheeses, fruits and various preserves and breeding, pigs, poultry, sheep and goats.
The area with its ancient history and tradition offers a myriad of recreational opportunities for guests: from the mountains to the sea, from the adventurous ascent of the Raganello riverbed (Km 15) to long walks in the Pollino National Park (Km 20); from visiting the archaeological excavations of Sibari (Km 20) and Francavilla Marittima (Km 5) to the relaxing thermal waters and mud baths of Cerchiara di Calabria (Km 7); to visiting the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Armi (Km 12), carved into the rock at Cerchiara di Calabria.
