The agriturismo
The agriturismo is located in the Tusco-Emilian Apennines, in a rural context at the foot of Mount Montovolo, known for the sanctuary of Saint Catherine and the Provincial Nature Park.
The facility is run by the Bicchecchi family which has passed down its typical Emilian recipes from one generation to the next, seasonal dishes to be savored at the agriturismo.
The accommodation
The facility is made of natural stone, created from what was once a stable with hayloft. The ground floor has been transformed into a multipurpose hall where courses, conventions and events are held; here there are six columns made of stone drawn from the old Montovolo pit, hewn by 60 stonemasons in the early 1900s and sanded during renovations.
The upper floor has 3 double rooms with beds and furnishings from the early 1900s; each has private bath, one of which is barrier free; there is also one single room with bath.
On the same floor, the ancient hayloft built in the 1950s has been transformed into a dining room that can seat 60.
The agriturismo organizes courses in painting and cooking. There is a small playground with volleyball court, a five-a-side football field, ping-pong table and a trellis with vines, a place to stay cool while reading.
Activities and surrounding
In the area one can take walks or venture out on a mountain bike following the paths laid out by the Italian Climbing Association or old mule paths. A horseback riding center is found just 6 km away although booking is required; 15 km away is the Il Saltapicchio amusement park where one can try Albering, walking among the treetops, an experience that is both thrilling and safe thanks to the presence of mountain climbing instructors.
You can also visit La Scola, a restored medieval town dating from the XII century which is just 1 km from the agriturismo. In the winter, the Corno alle Scale ski slopes are just 20 km away.
