"A very charming place with incredible views of mountains and sea"

    10/29/2017

From the first moment we were so taken by this special place. The villa with the ingrown natural garden and this view over Santa Margherita Ligure to the sea. We would go back anytime. The breakfast was so lovingly prepared, with own products from the garden and many other goodies. The host has taken a lot of time and explains the environment. The Villa Gnocchi is the perfect starting point to easily take a bus to beautiful Camogli and from Santa Margherita a boat to Portofino and San Fruttuoso. Simply great!

"a beautiful place with loving hospitality"

    09/11/2017

We discovered the 'Villa Gnocchi' at the last moment and got a small room with a fantastic view of Santa Margeritha Ligure and the sea. With lots of helpful tips from our hosts we had wonderful days around Santa and Portofino.

    09/11/2017

Lovingly maintained ensemble, great and convenient location for excursions in the direction of Portofino Genoa and Sestri Levante. The hospitality and service are top. We had late booking the smallest room, was still OK.

    "A Paradise"

    09/05/2017

We stayed at Villa Gnocchi for one week in mid august 2017, and enjoyed every minutter of it! The former house and farm has two buildings, placed on top of terrasses with olive trees, grass lanes, a beatifull swimming pool with a stunning view of the Bay, and beautifull gardening in blossom, which Roberto keeps. - He even gave us a plant to take home to our garden because we liked it very much.
Our room was well furnished with antique furniture, - and best of all: all rooms have a large balcony with an amazing panoramic view of the whole valley and the beatifull Bay. - You need'nt actually go anywhere - could just stay and take all the beauty and tranquility in.
Breakfast at the panoramic terrace was very good, cleaning of the rooms fine.
Ten min drive downhill to Santa Margherita, and you are in another beatifull setting, town was pretty, wit a very nice promenade at the sea. Town well equiped with boutiques and restaurants too.
We certainly want to go back to Villa Gnocchi and its kind spirit!

    "Beautiful farmhouse"

    08/22/2017

Beautiful farmhouse in a strategic position 5 km from rapallo, the beautiful camogli and the dear portofino. Santa Margherita can be reached even on foot by using a downhill slope in less than half an hour. The farmhouse has gorgeous basic accommodation but equipped with all the comforts and open to the gulf (at least ours) with private terrace with two sunbeds and two table chairs and a great privacy guaranteed. Just take two steps and you are in the pool surrounded by greenery (eye to the mosquitoes ... just a little autan). Great breakfast and owner Roberto besides being a lover of animals (great point in his favor) is a very nice and honest person. We will definitely be back (and very soon!)

"A fantastic stay in a charming villa"

    07/01/2017

The villa gnocchi is a dream. A little away from Santa Margherita and quietly situated in the mountains, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Liguria. The rooms are lovingly furnished, the beds very comfortable, and our room had a balcony, which revealed to us the sea and the village. Every morning from 8.30 to 9.30 there is breakfast, where you can also enjoy this view, just like from the pool. The staff is very nice and attentive, Roberto even picked us up from the station and took us back on our last day. There was a pleasant atmosphere among the guests and they got to know each other and gave themselves tips, just as we got a lot of help from Roberto for our daily schedule. All in all it was a great stay and hopefully we will return again!

""Two wonderful weeks in a beautiful place""

    05/20/2017

They were two separate weeks: one in September last year, one in May 2017. And it won't be our last stay in that enchanting B&B. The place is particularly beautiful because of the splendid view of the charming city of Santa Margherita di Ligure and the bay beyond, as well as the very well-kept grounds on which it is established. The B&B is located on the border of a mountain village, San Lorenzo, municip. of Santa Margherita di Ligure and a twenty minutes walk (or 10 minutes drive) from that city. Our room (nr. 12) is ample, with sufficient storage space, airco and a double bed with good firm matresses. Every day the room (and the bed) are thorougly cleaned and made-up. From the spacious terrace in front of the room the view is breathtakingly beautiful. Breakfast, Italian style with some adaptations from our more northerly kitchen, is abundant. It is served on the half-covered top deck, from which the view is even more striking. Roberto, the pleasant owner and manager of the place, who speaks good English, meticulously maintains the grounds, with an abundance of flowers and fruit trees, and the nice swimming pool located on the lowest of the three terraces that form the property. Roberto is helpful and knowledgeable about the area and he is very willing to give hints and advice about touristic activities. The town of Santa Margherita is very attractive, with its fishing port and with many restaurants and shopping facilities. The village of San Lorenzo della Costa, on the border of which "Villa Gnocchi" is situated, is just a ten minutes walk away and it offers (besides one church and one typical bar) a surprising number of restaurants: a pizzeria (offering more than 60 different kinds of pizza) and four trattorias, one of which, "Amici", is really excellent. In the village you will also find a small, but well-stocked supermarket.
We gave "Villa Gnocchi" a score of 9,5. The remaining 0,5 is caused by two minor details: 1. The shower in the roomy and impeccably clean bathroom (fresh towels are provided every day) produces very little water, probably due to the height of the location and 2. The narrow and steep winding road leading from the highway to the parking area of the B&B, on which one (especially one like me, coming from the totally flat country of Holland) fervently hopes not to meet another vehicle! These two points evidently are of minor importance compared to all the attractions this (our favorite Italian B&B) is offering.

"A FRIENDLY PLACE, WELCOME WITH A MOZAFIATED VIEW"

    05/06/2017

We returned for the long April 25th bridge at Villa Gnocchi. Our second time, almost a homecoming, and surely there will be others. The first was last year, in the summer, a fortuitous cancellation had guaranteed the room, otherwise. I remember coming back to the hill, in the cool place, where a nice iced door was waiting for us on our balcony, it was a mirage and a pleasure after the beach heat. In the spring, however, the coast is an explosion of colors. Of Villa Gnocchi we like the welcoming and warm atmosphere of the rooms furnished with antique furniture, we like the terrace where to have breakfast overlooking the splendid gulf of Santa Margherita, surrounded by a jungle of plants and ancient shrubbery overflowing with flowers. A breakfast that is always rich, tasty, casomai too tempting: the problem, if so can be called, is also find the strength to get in the car and start the day, so we are tempted to stay afloat on the beautiful pool below The olive trees, with the scent of lemons and a nice book to make us company. Roberto, then, welcomed us as friends, attentive and helpful with his suggestions, that we now blindly follow, knowing to go safe. The location, the atmosphere, the price ... how to resist? True, the access road is a bit steep, but it's so short, certainly not a problem.

    "Nice and quiet"

    04/23/2017

Surrounded by nature, ideal for those who love peace and quiet, with a beautiful view of the gulf, is an excellent base for excursions in the Mount Portofino, with potential to reach Santa Margherita walk among the olive trees, in 20 minutes or by bus. Very useful to rent a scooter for getting around. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast buffet on the terrace with sea view, is excellent, a great start to the day ... and finally ... a dip in the pool! Steve, the owner, a great knowledge of the area is available for any information or suggestions. Our experience has always been positive and it is a place where we like to go.

    "Charming, relaxing, classic Italian experience"

    04/22/2017

We have been visiting Villa Gnocchi 2-3 times a year for the past 12 years. It feels like home every time we arrive. The gardens are beautiful and the view is to die for, perched above Santa Margherita Ligure in the lush bowl above the Ligurian sea. We love lazing by the pool and enjoying the view. Breakfast is served on a terrace and includes fresh produce from the garden. There is a 20 minute downhill walk into Santa Margherita for lunch or dinner, and a regular bus to bring you back up to Villa Gnocchi. Roberto is a charming host and will give you a wealth of information about what to do and where to go. There is the boat to Portofino and San Fruttoso, or the 5klm walk from Santa Margherita to Portofino is another way to get there with hidden beaches along the way to swim at. This is truly one of our favourite places on earth!

We booked for the beginning of August 2016 family room for us and our children to spend holidays in Liguria. Reservation and booking went smoothly. difficult even for experienced drivers, the driveway as extremely narrow and steep downhill designed. When you have reached the target without scratch on the car, you will here have to resort to taxi or bus because the driveway is an impertinence. Taxi to / from the center of Santa Margherita costs EUR 24.00 per route. The taxi driver refused to go to down the plot and let us up off at the main street. Walking distance from the city center one needs via various stairs and smaller way around. one hour. The room, which we found was extremely dirty. Cobwebs in every corner, various packaging remains and hair of the predecessors were on the floor around, was still in the trash a tampon a predecessor in the fireplace were cigarette butts, the fridge was inside moldy. The shower was moldy and broken. Since cobwebs were woven to the floor, must be assumed that the floor a long time was not cleaned. In the room was for the children a bunk bed. In the upper sleeping area towered a merely bent, pointed screw (5 cm) from the wall, over a nail. The landlord has our notice that this is a risk of injury to the sleeping children here, dismissed as ridiculous. Slightly below the house is an area where the train outside the tunnel drives, which is quite noisy at night. The breakfast was well arranged. There were two cans of juice, both were already fermented, more from breakfast we have not tried, packed our bags and left again after the first night. The owner was not appreciated. leave that at breakfast with other guests have the juice and coffee did not impress him. The deposit will be lost. Overall, this was a disgrace.

The views are amazing; the buildings and rooms beautiful and unique; not hotel style, but real traditional for the location and make you feel you have your own personal space. The breakfasts are delicious. Located right on walking paths and we made day long hikes right from Gnocchi. Easy train trip to Cinque Terre for day long hiking there. The host was very friendly and extremely helpful. We hope to be able to come back and stay again!

    "Beautiful location, but unfriendly hosts"

    05/10/2016

I had booked a room from 5/1/2016 to 6/5/2016. was confirmed in writing me a room with terrace. When I arrived, I met the owner in the garden unload your bags. Instead of a greeting or how the trip was, Mr. barked my gnocchi with grumpy face the question contrary: "Mister?" The room he showed me had no terrace but a small balcony. That would have not been so tragic, but he meant to me at the same time that I had to move to 3 days. Again, this was not communicated to me in the confirmation. The reason he gave to problems when booking. The question of why the tenant could not move, was not answered. Then I made him understand that I would leave for 3 days when I had to move. That did not impress him at all, he turned without a word. The location of the property is very nice, with herrrlichem overlooking the sea and the cliffs south. Everything now seems a bit worn, the teak furniture on the terrace and in the garden were safe wertig been 10 years time, now they are clearly taken. The cushions on the couches and chairs remain on it in the rain, so they see then also. Who dark, ornate grandfather beds (my rattled and creaked, the mattresses were very soft and saggy) and pseudo-antiques like the rooms will certainly appealing. The breakfast buffet, which is built up in a room of the main house is good. There is always fresh fruit, cereal, great croissants and at least 2 cakes. On Bread There is toast and small Pannini, a kind of ham and one sort of cheese, to a sort of jam, honey and Nutella. ie it is good and tasty full. The access road is very narrow and steep, it should meet no car, otherwise a complete back must.
