The agriturismo
The agriturismo Pietra Rosa is in the province of Urbino, an art and culture town, on the border with the Riserva Statale del "Furlo," in an area known for its noteworthy landscape.
It’s the ideal place to spend a vacation in total relax by visiting the unspoiled nature and by savoring the food and wine specialties of this area.
The accommodation
The agriturismo activity dates to early 2002 after having finished renovation work on the farmhouse, where the owners live year round. The work was carried out according to anti-earthquake regulations and eco-sustainable principles.
Almost all materials used in the renovation were salvaged: wooden oak beams, tiles for the attics, roof shingles, wooden architraves, etc.
The farmhouse has 5 rooms with a bath, including a room for the physically challenged, and a restaurant that can host about 30 guests; during mild months and in the summer guests may eat out under a spacious gazebo.
The cooking is mainly based on the farm’s products: the garden, fruit orchard, and small farmyard provide almost all of the ingredients, which are used to prepare meals. The remaining products are purchased directly from other local farms, with preference for organic products.
Tagliatelle, ravioli, lasagna, strozzapreti, sausages, prosciutto, salami, jams, preserves, and sweets are all homemade without preservatives or chemical additives. Upon request there are also choices for vegetarians and celiacs.
The pool, irregular in shape, with a breathtaking view of the entire valley, is 15 m long, 8 m wide in its largest point, and is 50 cm to 120 cm deep; only guests may use the pool. Lounge chairs are also available.
Paying special attention to the environment, 4 solar panels ensure – between April and October – a sanitary water reserve equal to 200 liters. Also, starting in November 2011 a 13.5 kw photovoltaic system for electricity covers the farm’s yearly needs.
