    "Again and again"

    Again and again
Our fifth visit to Zabaldano and this time in the spring rather than autumn. Also we flew in and hired a car so left our bikes at home. Lots of interest in the spring flowers, orchids particularly.
A late spring here as in the U.K. So evething seems to be coming at once. In our week here the Wisteria and Lilac has come fully out. The Tulips and Deffodils have gone, the Walnut tree came into leaf and the Fig trees showing baby figs and leaves. Star of Bethlehem are everywhere, and new to me.
A warm welcome, as ever, from Claudia and Riccardo. Lots of things the same yet many changes since our last visit in 2015.
Asparagus seems the only seasonal product locally, the cherries, plums, apples and pears all in flower. The vines barely stirring buds at present. The Piedmont wines good as ever - bu shock change on Sunday morning from Gavi to Arneis!
We have found somewhere good to eat every lunchtime. Excellent food at good prices in Monastero Bormida, Roccaverano, Alba (limited choice on Monday morning), Acqui Terme, Bubbio and S.Giorgio Scarampi. Tomorrow Canelli for market and lunch and a walk.
Baldo still going strong and pleased to meet Pluto and Lumia.
We have walked to Roccaverano, Bubbio and S.Giorgio - one day supposedly climbing 92 flights of steps. So my phone App claimed.
The weather has been very kind, sun every day so far without a hint of rain Delightful.
    John and Judith Roscoe

"There are many types of noise, but only one kind of silence."

    04/16/2018

This was our 3rd time here on Zabaldano: the first time in 2004 for two, the second time in 2013 with our then 3-year-old son, Elias, and now in 2018 at Easter. Elias is already 8. Since this winter was especially long and cold, I was looking forward to spring in Piedmont for a long time. But as we on 31.3. It was winter cold, and on the way we had to drive slowly because of heavy heavy rain and storm. But here we received a warm welcome from Claudia and Riccardo and their three dogs. Our "badger" apartment, which we already knew, was lovingly prepared and preheated. How should this week be? First of all, we all slept as well as we have not done in a long time. The next day - it was Easter Sunday - the sun was shining and there was no cloud left. We looked around in the beautiful landscape; she still looked winterly brown - but many bees were already buzzing in the flowering almond tree at the driveway and in the many daffodils. In the course of the next few days, we noticed more and more how beautiful it is just to listen to nature and to organize your thoughts - which results automatically. With Elias we made two small hikes and discovered interesting things that Claudia later explained to us (Gallwespennester and webs of processional caterpillars in the trees). We also met several times deer near the house - unusually close for us. There was also the opportunity to watch Claudia and Stefano, their helper, prepare and implement the beehives for spring - not so easy not to be stung. Today we could watch the blacksmith at the "horse pedicure". The two men were very friendly and explained a lot about their art. Amazing how long the horse patiently let it all go with it. They already knew each other well. That too was new to us. Again we got many helpful tips and brochures / books about excursion possibilities in the area. Not everything we have done. Very interesting for us was the visit to the castle Grinzane-Cavour near Alba. Great wine museum and much history with magnificent views of the countryside. We hope to see you again soon! Thank you for your pleasant hospitality! Andreas, Timea and Elias

We were here last year and are making plans to come back again. Better we can not show what we think of Agriturismo Zabaldano. Nature and the surroundings are overwhelmingly beautiful and the reception by Claudia and Ricardo is most of all. Highly recommended.

    "Piemonte paradise"

    07/26/2016

Waw! We were not expecting Zabaldano to be such a paradise! The views are amazing, surrounded by vineyards and forests and lots of wildlife. We enjoyed our stay with our baby-doughter, where we could stay and relax in the garden of the agriturismo, or make trips to surrounding hilltop-villages, winecellars, markets and very good small restaurants. Claudia and Ricardo are very nice people and the perfect hosts. We would advice this place to friends, and will try to come back here.

Many vacations in different places in Italy we have experienced. This year we chose Piedmont and Zabaldano. That was a great happiness. Actually stood several city tours on our vacation schedule, but the spectacular scenery does not let us continue. And so we took a walk almost every day. We were supported by Claudia with a lot of literature and important tips. Then we could all four of us stretch on Zabaldano and enjoy life, panorama and the excellent hospitality of Claudia and Riccardo. This is vacation! We immediately booked again for next year.

    "Perfect holiday"

    08/17/2015

Due to the remote location on the mountain, and in the middle of nature, this is truly an oasis of calm. This is also a perfect base for exploring the various wine regions of Piedmont and then to quietly enjoy the Jacuzzi overlooking the valley. Claudia and Riccardo are the perfect host and gentleman you with all the information to optimally your trips plans. Make sure to try the homemade sheep cheese, jam, honey and wine !!!

    "Verrassend verblijf op Zabaldano"

    11/23/2014

    "Wonderful people, wonderful views"

    10/13/2014

This was our third stay at Zabaldano, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely, again. The setting and the views are unbeatable; Claudia and Riccardo very hospitable and the Zab. food - the honey, cheese, jams, tomatoes and wine excellent, with several very good local restaurants fairly close. This time we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience of grape picking as well as a new restaurant. We also enjoyed meeting C & R's new family, Peter and Corrinna. Difficult to know what type of holiday to describe this as; it is a countryside holiday where we want to be out of doors for as much time as possible

    "Splendid experience"

    08/24/2014

We spent a few days in Zabaldano return from the North to our house in Romagna: Grandma and Grandpa with two granddaughters curious (9 and 7 years) and Piper, a 6 year old Border Collie very dynamic. E 'was an experience that define addictive and rewarding (from many points of view) is just an understatement. The owners "live" on the spot all the seasons that nature sends: manage the farm and the hospitality industry dedicated with love and great attention to detail. It feels "at home" and that means relax. The views are magnificent. Sympathy, hospitality and quality of the products (cheeses, honeys, wines), the ability to put you at ease people of all ages, making simple explanations of agricultural labor and the animals and to understand the deep meaning and ethics that supports all these activities ... all this can be truly described as "farm of excellence." Our granddaughters will bring an intense memory and have learned many important things. Senior us we were not outdone in learning things we did not know and that make you think. Piper had made many friends, and - at the start - it lifts car just behind a specific order.

    "A jewel in the Piedmont"

    05/26/2014

I was now the third time to guest in Zabaldano and it is every time an unforgettable experience. The owners live and love their agritourism and can be felt in every detail. Hospitality is paramount, the situation was an absolute dream and the building to be jealous. There are home-made honey, jam and cheese, horses and sheep, a hot tub with views of the valley and one of the best Piedmontese restaurants nearby. These perfect starting point for hiking and cycling in the countryside. For me, one of the paradises of Italy.

    11/16/2012

We recently stayed at Zabaldano for the 3rd time. The views of the Monte Rosa and snowy alps were superb. The kids enjoyed riding the donkeys and bottling the Dolcetto with Riccardo. We would highly recommend the autumn walks esp up to San Giorgio for lunch. If you are lucky you will see wild boar roaming and Riccardo will organise dawn till dusk sunshine.....but be warned this costs EXTRA ! We are already looking forward to returning to Zab for our 4th visit :-)

    "Fantastic "Piedmont""

    07/27/2012

One of the most beautiful "agriturismo" in Italy. For our family, it is the third Agriturismo that we know.
Beautifuls views to the Monte Rosa from our accomodation.
A very nice place for children an for for persons who look for the "quiet ambiance" of Italy. Good wine made by Riccardo, good jams made by Claudia and perfect Robiola cheese made by Roby... Forse ci rittorniamo , ma d'inverno. Auguri per i cani !!
