Both the rooms and apartments meet strictly the highest standards, furnished in Occitan/Provençal style, typical of the local area.
Alpes d'OC Morinesio started out as a donkey and alpaca farm, and today guests can enjoy excursions through the farm’s green surroundings, getting to know these docile and affectionate animals. The agriturismo’s expert guides will lead you as you discover the wonderful balance of nature.
Morinesio is a magical place, where the hamlet blends harmoniously with the surrounding nature. The exposed stone and wood houses give off an other-worldly vibe, but feature all the standard comforts of a city home. There are no cars, the narrow, unpaved streets are made from local stone.
A ten-minute walk away you’ll find the Santa Maria di Morinesio sanctuary, which towers on the ridge of a deep cliff on the south-eastern side, surrounded by gently sloping flower-filled meadows to the north and west.
The area offers a wealth of routes for trekking and mountain biking, as well as cross-country and downhill skiing and snowshoe excursions in winter. You can explore the ancient paths walked by the valley inhabitants who once populated the numerous mountainside hamlets. Roads, once military, dating back to Savoy, smugglers' trails, salt paths, GTA (Grande Traversata delle Alpi) hiking trails. 6 km takes you to the Cavalline Pass - 2000 m above sea level, leading to Elva, one of the pearls of the Maira Valley, or, if you continue up to 2500 m above sea level, the Sampeyre Pass which winds back down to the Varaita Valley.
There are guided tours of the region’s ancient churches, built from the year 1000 onwards, examples of the great artistic heritage (architectural, painting, stonework) of the Maira Valley.
The main axis of the Maira Valley ends upstream with the village of Chiappera, to the right of which you can admire the spectacular Stroppia falls. Along with the Maira Springs, the area around the Stroppia Falls and the Provenzale-Castello chain is recognised locally and nationally as a place of great natural importance and rare beauty. From the Stroppia Falls, which descend thundering from the mountain, performing in a unique spectacle extending from June to early August, the deep valleys of Maurin, Stroppia and the Infernetto depart, surrounded by the highest local peaks.
