The agriturismo
The baglio dell'800 is located in a wide valley of the warm and quiet Sicilian countryside, just 2 km from Caltagirone.
It is immersed in a certified organic farm of about 20 hectares.
The managers are farmers from 4 generations and have specialized in the cultivation of vegetables in the open field such as artichokes, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, zucchini and pumpkins. For over a decade, they have reintroduced ancient local varieties of wheat and legumes, a garrison of Slow Food. Two precious varieties of grapes are also cultivated, from which a product with a unique flavour is obtained, distributed in various countries around the world and bearing the name of its founder, "Don Michelangelo", on the label.
The accommodation
The baglio has been restored in keeping with the original architecture and offers nine rooms furnished with poor art furniture and private bathroom. One is located on the ground floor and is also accessible to people with disabilities, as well as all common areas.
The large courtyard with tables and chairs is ideal for breakfast or dinner in the open air near the fountain, while the swimming pool with solarium equipped with comfortable deck chairs will offer moments of relaxation.
The restaurant offers a simple, Mediterranean and tasty traditional cuisine, with rich appetizers that enhance the organic production of the farm, delicate first courses made with a base of fresh homemade pasta and second courses of genuine meat from local farms.
