Via Zafferana Bongiardo, 26, 95019 Zafferana Etnea (Catania)
Just 30 km from Catania and 25 km from Taormina, on the flanks of mount Etna, the agriturismo is an historic villa immersed in 5 hectares of farmland.
The building was used as a British command post during the second World War, before being returned to its legitimate owners, who preserved the murals showing the symbols and pennant of the Scots Battalion that occupied the house.
Today, specialised in the cultivation of cherries and olives, the farmhouse also provides a perfect venue for wedding receptions and events.
The agriturismo has been completely renovated to restore it to its original glory. The restaurant, which is ideal also for events, has a very refined set menu, from hors d'oeuvres to dessert, all prepared with the highest quality ingredients, like the extra virgin olive oil from the olive groves on the farm.
Guests can stay in independent rooms furnished with prestigious antiques, or in mini apartments.
The restaurant's dining room opens out onto the courtyard, while the exterior staircase, draped with a fragrant climbing jasmine, leads to a large first floor terrazzo with antique cotto tile floor, providing access to the old grape press room and another smaller room where guests can gather to eat and chat.
Finally, the a large panoramic roof terrace offers breathtaking views over the sea and Etna.
There is a large car park suitable also for coaches.
