The agriturismo
The stone farmhouse style of typical 19th Century inland Sicilian architecture is also accompanied by a pre-existing structure from the 18th century in which lived herders and farm animals. They both are surrounded by rocky hillside named Bannata-Restivo and woods centuries old. We offer ideal hiking, mountain and road biking and other great opportunities to reconnect with nature.
The accommodation
The company "Bannata", from the Arabic "earth kissed by the sun", extends in the homonymous district in the territory of Enna. Recently, with decree n. 3597 of 17 May 2016 issued by the Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing, the company has been classified with the award of four ears which is the highest level of quality in Italy for farms. The stone farmhouse, typical of the Sicilian hinterland and dating back to the early nineteenth century, stands next to a pre-existing eighteenth-century rural structure, once a permanent residence of shepherds and herds. Located in the heart of Sicily is the ideal place to make a smart holiday on the island: in fact, a short distance separates it from the most important Sicilian cities and a few kilometers from the most important archaeological sites in the province of Enna: Piazza Armerina, Morgantina, Enna and Calascibetta. Even the sea reached from the hinterland acquires another charm. The structure offers accommodation in six functional rooms all equipped with bathroom, obtained mainly from ancient rural environments: the chicken coop, the stable, the house of the shepherds, for a total of 18 beds. The house is furnished with antique Sicilian furniture, the rooms are spacious and equipped with bathrooms. Good taste, care for hospitality and details are the elements most appreciated by guests. A large swimming pool surrounded by greenery and numerous shaded corners ensure moments of relaxation. The cuisine is inspired by the aristocratic and peasant tradition of the hinterland. The farm produces grasses, legumes, vegetables, nuts, oil, eucalyptus honey and medicinal herbs. The Masseria offers its guests the opportunity to participate in many cultural activities for years linked to its name: film festivals, midday concerts, jazz concerts, exhibitions and contemporary art events, theater-dance shows, book presentations and meetings with characters from the world of international culture.
