C.da Dragofosso snc, 94010 Aidone (Enna)
A 19th century “baglio” (a traditional Sicilian internal courtyard), surrounded by the 200 hectare “Dragofosso” farm, just a few kilometres from Piazza Armerina, home to the famous Villa Romana del Casale (a Unesco World Heritage Site) and from Aidone and Caltagirone.
The 8 guest rooms in the single-storey baglio are furnished in rustic Sicilian style, with antique furniture, wrought iron beds, spacious bathrooms and various home comforts, including TVs, air conditioning and facilities for disabled guests. Two stylish guesthouses, both detached with two entrances, stand beside the swimming pool (with umbrellas, loungers and showers), the first on the main driveway, and the second on a beautiful, well-tended English lawn.
Make your holiday a food and wine experience, with the agriturismo's tasty Sicilian cuisine with centuries-old tradition. A large lounge for ceremonies is nestled in a little natural paradise which surrounds the entire accommodation structure. You can also choose to hire just the lounge and garden, without the additional catering service and lounge set-up.
The agriturismo also offers: 200 hectares of woodland, a riding centre equipped for excursions, clay pigeon shooting (skeet and sporting), a campsite, a mini zoo and a lake, nature trails and a pine grove with children's play area.
Contrada Dragofosso, on the border of Aidone and Piazza Armerina, is home to a necropolis with Hellenistic and Roman remains. Along one of the main Sicilian “regie trazzere”, or royal pathways, near the farmhouse and its castle, stood the Baccarato trading factory: once a place for resting and changing horses during long journeys between the Ibla area, Caltagirone and central and western Sicily. Today this large building with its long, low body remains, with the stables, the inn and the main house, as well as the smaller buildings that constituted the natural courtyard.
The place is wonderful, spectacular scenery clean and tidy and a kindness and helpfulness of the staff difficult to find, was a
short stay but really pleasant, we will definitely stay there again and strongly recommend it.

It was our first time at an agriturismo (we are a family of four with two children, aged 7 and 13) so didn't really know what to expect, but it couldn't have been more wonderful. The hosts and staff were so unbelievably kind and welcoming, the food (all homegrown and organic) was first class and the grounds and facilities were great. We enjoyed an endless supply of hand-picked fruit, spent hours in the huge pool and loved our pony and trap ride. But our highlight, apart from the food, was undoubtedly a trip in our host Fillippo's 4x4 to the top of the mountain where we enjoyed an incredible panoramic 360° view of Sicily, as well as a tour of his land which has clearly been developed with insurmountable passion and love. The fact that we all shed a tear when leaving Il Drago says it all. Thank you for the priceless memories which will last a lifetime. We will definitely be back!
A little hard to find since Aidone. Beautiful establishment with unfortunately a swimming pool under repair. During our stay.
Warm welcome and delicious meals.
