The agriturismo

Agriturismo Fattoria delle Milizie is located in the countryside of Scicli, in the province of Ragusa. We are in the Baroque area, among the landscapes of Montalbano or portraits in the Italo film. Our farm extends over 12 hectares where we mainly breed dairy goats in organic production and produce raw milk cheeses. We have a few hens, black Nebrodi pigs, a typical Sicilian breed, and two donkeys. At Fattoria delle Milizie we also have a tropical greenhouse where you can try freshly squeezed sugar cane juice during organized walks. But Fattoria delle Milizie is also olive trees from which extra virgin olive oil is produced, and is carob trees. At Fattoria delle Milizie you can spend your holidays relaxing, and the sea is only 3 minutes away by car.

The accommodation

The farm is newly built and immersed in the Sciclitana countryside. Our ethics are very attentive to energy saving, to the zero emission philosophy, to animal welfare. All values that are also found in our daily lives. We raise goats, produce organic cheeses, have a tropical greenhouse, as well as pigs and donkeys. We offer experiential workshops for adults and children. And we can accompany you to the discovery of the nearby cities: Scicli and Ragusa Ibla. At least once a week we organize free visits to our estate to offer you good freshly squeezed cane juice. Children are welcome and there is a small playground for them. Even four-legged friends can be our guests, but it must be agreed with the management and should always be kept on a leash. Our farm Fattoria delle Cicogne is only 5 km from the beach of Donnalucata.

Activities and surrounding

At Fattorie delle Milizie there is something to do every day: guided excursions to Ragusa Ibla, or to Scicli, a typical cooking workshop where you can learn how to make arancini, cannoli and much more; local handicraft laboratory: from the decoration of a tile to the realization of a small coffa, the straw bag typical of Sicily and much more. To the tasting routes: cheeses and honey, cheeses and wine, cheeses and beer, cheeses and jams. We also offer you a cheesemaking workshop so you can discover some secrets of the dairy art. Even for the little ones there is a dedicated laboratory: kitchen or creativity. At Fattoria delle Milizie you can stop to have a cheese-based aperitif or just have lunch or dinner in a different and light way. Our tasting room offers different types of cutting boards that you can accompany with a good bottle of wine. At Fattoria delle Milizie you can also buy our products and eat them at home. Near Fattoria delle Milizie there are Scicli, Modica and Ragusa. Scicli is the main destination for the Baroque and to visit the Vigata police station for Montalbano lovers. Furthermore, this small village is home to two really interesting museums: that of the Costume, A Rutta ri ron Carmelo which is located inside the rock site of "Chiafura". Modica is only 15 km away and is particularly known for both Baroque and chocolate, it is a town rich in museums: the water mill museum, the museum of tools of the past, the Museum of the birthplace of Salvatore Quasimodo, the Neolithic Museum, the Modica Chocolate Museum. At about 29 km from Fattoria delle Milizie there is another site to discover and Ragusa Ibla, the oldest district of Ragusa, is also in Baroque style and is Unesco heritage. Near Fattoria delle Milizie you can take a dip in the sea, there are beautiful beaches where the water is shallow and suitable for children and those who can't swim. The beaches are mostly free but there are also those equipped. Donnalucata is only 5 km away, Playa Grande at 7 and Marina di Ragusa at 11.
