The agriturismo
Nestled among the olive trees of the Hyblaean Mountains, among rolling hills cultivated with wheat, almonds, vines, oregano and onions, this enchanting country villa is just a few metres from the ancient Irminio River, which feeds the artificial basin of S. Rosalia, and a few kilometres from Ragusa Ibla, in a region rich in history and rural tradition.
The accommodation
The villa is available for exclusive hire and can host up to 10 guests, or it can be split into two apartments with independent entrances and facilities, TV and Wi-Fi: the Dimora dell'Olio and the Dimora del Grano. The first is smaller, but ideal for disabled guests, with a lounge and traditional refractory brick kitchen. The wood burning oven is the star feature here, but you’ll also find a sofa bed, a master bedroom with views of the central courtyard and a private bathroom.
Dimora del Grano features a large lounge, comfortable sofa beds, a thermo-fireplace, and a Caltagirone ceramic kitchen. You'll find one bathroom on the ground floor, and the second on the first floor along with the bedrooms (one double, one twin).
Activities and surrounding
The agriturismo is the perfect base for a real country break, spent discovering the local area with its canyons and pathways, on foot or on one of the friendly donkeys, or perhaps enjoying a Sicilian cookery class. Make the most of the weather and enjoy breathtaking guided walks around the Hyblaean Canyons, or explore the S. Rosalia Reservoir by bicycle or car. With a fishing license, you can fish for carp, bass and pike, and have lunch on a "crag" on the lake. From October to December, guests can take part in harvesting and milling the olives. In July and August you can collect Giarratana onions, and bread-making lessons are available all year round.
As well as the town of Giarratana, you’ll also find Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Scicli, Noto, Palazzolo and Syracuse nearby.

07/25/2018We had a fantastic holiday in the Hill of the Iblei. The house of Franca and Bruno, a very nice, friendly, helpful copy, is excellent to spend the holiday: well equipped, big enough (we were with 4 adults and 2 children), a splendid pool, a pergola next to the kitchen with nice view , a nice garden ,? In short, nothing to criticize. The house is near Giarratana, a beautiful village with shops, bars, a very good restaurant ,? The city barocce Noto, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Scicli,? they are on a distance of maximum 1 hour. Even the beaches are at most 1 hour. In short: an unforgettable holiday thanks to the beautiful house and a very beautiful region. And of course thanks to Franca and Bruno! (I'm Belgian then errors in the comment ...)

02/23/2018Well located close to Catania, Ragusa, and Siracusa, La Collina is a two story house recently updated beautifully. The kitchen boasts a wood fired oven and the living room a working fireplace. Bicycles, kittens, and a country setting with swimming pool made a great setting for the grandkids. Most appealing, however, were the hosts. Bruno and his family could not have been more accommodating, cooking meals a casa, leading us to a walking tour of Giarrantana, recommending and setting up local tours (and not complaining when we cancelled them), and gracefully rescuing us when we locked our keys in the house. No breakfasts provided, however,.
