The agriturismo
Nestled in typical Hyblaean hilly countryside, amidst olive and almond trees, chirping birds and the sounds of nature, agriturismo guests can enjoy relaxing holidays just minutes from the tourist attractions and monuments of baroque Ragusa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A few hundred metres from the Cava della Misericordia Nature Park, just 2 km from the historic centre of Ragusa Ibla and 6 km from central Ragusa, this typical farmhouse enjoys scenic views of Ragusa Ibla and the Irminio River valley.
The accommodation
On the farm, with its typical courtyard structure built around a large “baglio” (a traditional Sicilian internal courtyard), once the hub of the farm, cattle were reared and ricotta produced, along with the famous “caciocavallo” and Ragusan provola cheeses. Benefitted by the mild climate, the estate boasted over 2 hectares of land dedicated to pasture and almond trees. Purchased by husband and wife Ennio and Anna, lovers of the countryside and nature, the farmhouse has been renovated maintaining all of the original features: today it comprises the main house and, in the old stables, the 6 spacious guest rooms, all furnished with artisan pieces, Caltagirone ceramic lamps and Sicilian terracotta flooring. Each room also boasts a bathroom with large shower (plus hairdryer, courtesy set and magnifying mirror), 40” LED TV, mini bar, safe, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Breakfast is served on the scenic veranda, a delicious sweet and savoury selection, prepared using typical local ingredients, with cured meats, cheeses, focaccia and fragrant homemade cakes made with fresh eggs, jams, honey and zero mile produce.
The saltwater infinity swimming pool with whirlpool and sun terrace, suitable for little ones too, is nestled in the shade of an age old carob in a private, peaceful spot with a large solarium and exclusive views. Facilities include onsite parking and a spice garden.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the delicious organic produce from the vegetable garden and orchard - vegetables of all kinds, legumes, tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, onions and more. The farm is also home to barnyard animals, hens and cockerels.
