"Nice place but room for improvement!"

    06/07/2016

I spent four nights at the farm: On the whole I was fine, but, especially in light of read reviews, I expected more '. Pros: great location, nice hotel, beautiful swimming pool, availability 'for late arrival, possiilia' fresh juice at breakfast, very spacious accommodation. Cons: the restaurant included in the structure open until late at night with kids screaming and loud music under our bedroom window, housing maintenance to improve, lack of staff from late afternoon onwards, feeling of being in a hotel rather than in a farm (I was hoping for a 'more' family atmosphere), ready-made cakes at breakfast. Unfortunately the location of our accommodation was the worst compared to the restaurant and the quality 'sleep' was quite low!

    "Great agriturismo in perfect location"

    07/05/2015

Really nice hotel in an old farmhouse building. Great room (It was more than a room in apartment), really nice swimming pool in an awesome surrounding of lemon trees. Free bikes to go to the beach (it's a wonderful ride through the lemon and orange plantation). Good breakfast and always helpful staff. The location is perfect: it is pretty close to the motorway as Noto, Siracusa, Ragusa, Catania (airport) and the Vendicari beaches are easy to reach - Nevertheless it is absolutly calm. There is therefore an excellent wine Restaurant and Pizzeria just nearby.

    "Very nice holiday!"

    09/25/2014

We were on the recommendation of my sister and my brother in law and had a very pleasant and relaxing stay. Sebastiano was always helpful and could better english than most in the region. The ambience of the hotel was amazing and you could relax by the pool. For the mosquitoes nobody could do anything, we were greatly afflicted at the beginning ...! We have also taken day trips, Noto, Siracusa and Taormina. Highly recommended !!! :-)

    "Wonderful!"

    07/26/2014

Stayed at this agriturismo in a group of 3 couples. We had a wonderful time at the pool, walking through the country, and hanging out in the courtyard. Breakfast was great, and we had a good dinner at the attached restaurant. It's close to some great beaches, set among orange and lemon trees. The spa area looked brand new and quite nice for a small space.

We stayed in this cottage 9 to 12 September 2013, and we loved it ..... great location for those of us who want to visit the city of Sicilian Baroque. immersed in a citrus grove, with beautiful swimming pool, bicycle to reach the nearby beach and beautiful (drop) in loc. hen. our room (the "lemon") very spacious, with twin beds on the ground floor and a mezzanine with a double bed and walls with stone and exposed beams! at 6 in the morning Mr. Cettina prepares cakes for breakfast and Mr. Sebastian is always available for advice or suggestions! is in a very quiet and right next door there is a restaurant offering Sicilian pizzas or menu board for the imagination!

"good but to expensive for what it offers and boring by night. "

    09/27/2012

I loved the building and the surrounding lemon yard and that's the HUGE GOOD POINT of Chiusa, the room was also very nice (however the cleaning service could be better).
The swimming pool was well kept, clean and not crowded.

    BUT:

    - Now the BAD points: the owners could be more interested in their guests you can see them only in the morning and they don't even care if you are happy with your stay or not :( although they seem to be nice people but not very open.

    - The breakfast was not satisfactory for me: no local or homemade products (except the lemon jam and the cake that they made ONCE) I think for the money we paid we should be given something more than average coffee (or even I would even dare to call it poor as for Italian standards), some croissants bought in the shop evidently (and this having hundreds of great bakeries around) ham, cheese and some fruit if you get up early enough. I know that the breakfast is not the most important meal for Italian people so I would accept it not abundant but high quality. I was also tired of ASKING for everything because at 9:30 the breakfast table was almost empty because they didn't bring more food, so I suppose I would have starved if I didn?t ask "excuse me can I get some bread / ham / cheese please?" of course usually they brought me what I wanted, but it was really embarrassing for me. However, sometimes I also heard "we are sorry but it's finished" (and it was at 9.30 and the breakfast time was until 10:30).

BUT THE WORST POINT IS THE LOCATION and I don't mean the lemon yard of course, I mean that the nearest town is about 8 km from there, you can only go there by car so if you don't have a car or want to drink some wine forget it, and it?s Avola ? a rather industrial town, not beautiful at all, even seems to be a little bit dangerous by night.[...]

So the evenings in Chiusa were totally DEAD. People reading books in their rooms or surfing on the internet, quiet as a tomb. It depends on what are you looking for. I was bored on the second night.

Beware of the mosquitoes! They are really a pest there!!! One night I forgot to put on my repellent and the next morning whe I woke up I had over 30 bites.

As I said, it has potential: the owners could prepare some small italians events for their guests - some wine and local specialities tasting evenings, for example (people would buy it, their friends would earn money on it and everyoune would be happy), lunch and dinner with cold antipasti plates (it's not a lot of work to buy some prosciutto crudo, bread, cheese, fruit or make some bruschette and caponata for 10 people) or having a lemon grove, to sell a homemade lemonade on the swimmimg pool area. Now people like it, but everyone comes for 2-3 days and leaves it. But I think that If the owners made some more effort people would really love it and come back every year.
    And I wouldn't feel I overpaid and now I do :(

    06/04/2012

Unfortunately we could spend one night at this wonderful farm, but it was still a wonderful experience .. Great place x who wants to detach and relax. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the hotel is great and thanks to bikes made by them provided you have the option to turn it all, the pool is very large and is surrounded by green, we were also at the spa and Jacuzzi is absolutely to try .. We will be back!

    09/04/2011

Easy to reach. Beautiful scenery of the farm, well maintained and equipped with comfort, ranging from swimming pool to the spa. Also the beautiful bike ride through the orchard, to the beach. The nearest restaurant serves meals farm adjacent to well-maintained. It's worth it, recommend it to all those who acted there.

    "Surrounded by lemons"

    08/03/2011

A very nice old property. The farm is being developed by one is poured road but very quiet surrounded by its own lemon groves. Adjacent is a very good "in" pizzeria. The ear Frühstüch the best we received on our trip. Unfortunately, there was no walking path to the beach although this is close. The tasteful decor is simple, even the bathroom with whirlpool. What we regret is the lack of mosquito nets - but this may now have changed. Otherwise, very nice.

The restaurant is not part of the structure, but is adjacent with a nice kitchen. Mr. Sebastian who runs the farm is always available and able to provide accurate and detailed.

    08/23/2010

We stayed in this cottage 9 to 13 August 2010. The place is absolutely beautiful and very well kept. The rooms are very well looked after, as well as the orchard where you can safely walk. The positioning is perfect (at 100 meters from the exit of Avola) and allows you to move throughout the province of Siracusa in no time. Mr. Sebastian (farm director) always helpful and kind.
