The agriturismo

This is a late 19th-century farmhouse nestled in Sicilian citrus orchards and olive groves. The farmhouse was carefully renovated in full respect of the typical elements of the area.

The place is run by the Ghezzi family, who is always available to guests with advice and suggestions.

The accommodation

The old farmhouse has an inviting restaurant and ten bedrooms. These rooms, with two, three, or four beds, all have their own private entrances and are well furnished with all the main comforts (full bath, air conditioning, heating, and color TV).

The food offered, typical of the area but influenced by other culinary cultures, is personally tended to by the owner, Giorgio, using products grown on-site or at trusted farmhouses.

Near the bedrooms, overlooking the spectacular Etna volcano, there is a large swimming pool with whirlpool for the comfort of guests. There is also a common room with a fireplace for cold winter evenings and, for those wishing to have fun in company, a ping-pong and table football. Instead, for those who adore the open-air, there is a large garden with a bocce course and playground for children.

Activities and surrounding

The farmhouse is the ideal place for those who wish to discover some peace and quiet far from stressful and frenetic cities. It is located on 30 hectares with approximately 3.5 km of private roads where you may take peaceful strolls and encounter some wild hares.

The farmhouse is located halfway between Siracusa and Catania, 20 minutes from the Catania airport and 15 minutes from the highway. In little time and with much calm you may reach the principal tourist sights in eastern Sicily: to the north there’s Catania, the Etna, and Taormina; to the south, Pantalica, Siracusa, Noto, the oasis of Vendicari, Marzamemi, and Portopalo. Towards the center of the island you’ll easily find Caltagirone, Piazza Armerina, and Ragusa. For those who aren’t afraid of some more road traveling, in about 3 hours you can reach Palermo or Agrigento.

The closest beach, Agnone Bagni, is 8 km away, but the eastern coast must all be visited, starting from the north, from Letojanni, up to the south and Capopassero.
